almost lose her head
Presenting quality football videos from the interweb, daily at 3pm. Here's today's collection:
1) Not only have Arsenal players rediscovered their form on the pitch, but the marketing department
is also going great guns off of it.
Appreciation
The legends descended on the hallowed turf of the Grove. This is probably the first time that
I've ever used hallowed turf and new-ish stadium in the same sentence. For me (and I'm sure many
others too), Highbury remained the truly real Arsenal stadium. However, with each match/season and
the growing memories, not forgetting the continual Arsenalisation of the stadium, Emirates Stadium
is turning into home.

This Week in American Soccer History: August 1978
This week in 1978 the Minnesota Kicks, one of the divisional champions of the NASL took on the
defending NASL Champions the New York Cosmos in a home-and-home playoff series. The Kicks, who had
never previously beaten the Cosmos, furiously began the series opener with forward Charlie George
crashing into Cosmos goalie Erol Yasin and scoring in the first minute.
Supposing former Lee Hendrie does decide to come and play for Bandung in the Liga Primer
Indonesia. How would Indonesian football benefit from his presence? It won't of course beyond an
aroma of glamour through having a fairly recognizable face linked with the unofficial league.
Given Indonesian fans' devotion to Manchester United, Liverpool or Chelsea it's highly probable
that Hendrie would have long slipped from the public consciousness and it is highly inlikely there
are a significant number of Villa fans in Bandung who would make him feel welcome in the city of
factory outlets and Brownies.
This week's Cafe Calcio is about women's football and goes out at 9.00pm this evening on
London's Resonance FM. If you don't live within their catchment area, though, you can tune in by
clicking here and, in addition to this, the show will be repeated tomorrow morning
at 11.00am and a podcast version of the show is also available that you can listen to by clicking

In London for the Swansea match tomorrow and decided to take my daughter on a tour of the
Emirates Stadium today.
Arsenal offers two tours. A general tour and one led by an Arsenal legend. Today that legend was
Charlie George and I could not turn down the opportunity to meet the person who scored this goal to
win the double for Arsenal.

Today all Gooners must do their duty. They must recall the greatness of the past and temporarily
cast aside the divisions that recently have weakened the Arsenal Faith. If you feel that you can't
then let me try to get you to understand why you support this club. What ever your age, I want you
to recall the Arsenal Legends for whom a day like this was the day to sweat blood for the
cause.
At last this boring International break is coming to an end and we can look forward to some
Arsenal Angst this weekend. Faced with another non-Arsenal news day I thought I'd have a look in
the archives and see what this week had been about in times gone past. It turned out that this week
11th to 18th October is historically really very exciting.

'Tis only just gone Halloween and already the corporate marketing types at Arsenal are already
getting all hot under the collar over Christmas.
Here, Andrei Arshavin, Tomas Rosicky et al appear in an "hilarious" video, the undoubted
highlight of which is the appearance of Gunners legend Charlie George, who proceeds to steal a few
goodies for himself.
Arsenal are set to celebrate Christmas in style after the club's marketing department released a
super cool video starring a host of first team stars showing off the latest Arsenal gear. The likes
of Andrei Arshavin, Tomas Rosicky, Ryo Miyaichi, Tomas Vermaelen and Gunners legend Charlie George
all star in the short video which is [.
"A good ball by Dixon finding Smith onto Thomas charging through the midfield, Thomas it's up
for grabs now. Thomas , right at the end. An unbelievable end to the season." My favourite goal
of all time, probably every Arsenal fans favourite goal. There have been plenty more beautiful
(TH v MU 2000) but certainly none more dramatic.
It was once the home of one of Australia's finest teams based in Sydney's southern suburbs, St.
George Budapest (who later became St. George Saints), playing in Australia's then-leading
professional division, the National Soccer League (they won the league in 1983). The club had a
rich history, having supplied almost half of Australia's 1974 World Cup team.
