Arsenal will sport a new home shirt for the 2010/2011 season which will be a throwback to the
shirt design worn by the 1971 double-winning team, according to the Arsenal Insider blog.
According to the blog, the shirt commemorates players such as Charlie George, John Radford and
George Armstrong when Bertie Mee's side won the Division One title and the FA Cup.
I made the quick stroll from Alec and Simona's flat on Liverpool Road to Upper Street where I
hopped on the 4 bus to Finsbury Park. The plan was to meet up with Nick and his crew for some pints
at the 12 Pins before strolling over to the Emirates. I was a bit early, so I ducked into a kebab
place and had a fantastic falafel with extra spicy chili garlic sauce.
The new Arsenal home kit will not be available to buy from the club shop until July 29th, but I
have found a sneak preview with Thomas Vermaelen doing the modeling. It reminds me of the old
seventies kit worn in the days of John Radford and Charlie George. Let's hope it can bring us [...]
It's our weekly trip down memory lane with the series of Friday Flashback Videos, released every
Friday on EPL Talk. Today we look at the 1970-71 season in English football thanks to a program
called Match Of The 70s.
The documentary takes you through the entire season with plenty of wonderful footage of greats
such as, in part one, Manchester United's George Best, dirty Leeds United, Arsenal's John Radford,
hooliganism at Derby's Baseball Ground, the goal by Chelsea's Alan Hudson which wasn't a goal, and
much more.

Back in the 60s, perhaps 66 or 67, we had a young player who appeared in 3 games in a month, I
saw his debut. His name was Mickey Boot and he scored 2 goals in those three games, the one I saw
was a nice shot from outside the penalty box. Yet he never appeared for us again and soon
thereafter moved to South Africa.
Yesterday I had the great pleasure of describing my path to the Light, and my close encounter
with The Dark Side. Today is an opportunity to reflect upon past games against The Stratford-Bound
Spurs (please Mr Levy take them there you will be lauded forever in the anals of history deliberate

Let us start back in Black and White.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have a sneaky feeling that I still feel pretty much the
same as you all do. Bit like a wounded animal who desperately needs a vet, but can't get to
one.
I hurt from that defeat, or rather embarrassment against Chelsea and I just can't seem to shake
it off.

Happy St George's Day, people. To celebrate, Pies presents a rather splendid gallery of top

Charlie George, Arsenal legend
Match Of The Day presenter Gary Lineker has come a long way since his TV appearances in
the early 1990s when he hosted a show entitled "Soccer In The 70′s." The former England and
Everton striker was, at the time, uncomfortable in front of the camera. And very stiff. Thankfully
he's improved over time, but it is interesting to take a look back at two excerpts from the
show.

What do Lee Bowyer and Joey Barton have in common? Well, it's obvious isn't it? But in case you
can't guess, here's another name to add to the mix: Segar Bastard.
No, no, not that...
Give up? The answer is that they each played for the full England team just once.
Does he has the right attributes?
With many of the first teamers either on transit or resting after their long flight back to
England, the focus falls on the younger shoulders of the club. Since Arsene Wenger took over the
club, we've had a very decent success with the under-age squads.
In this week's installment of the Friday Flashback Videos, we take the time machine back to the
1972-73 season in the old First Division of England.
If you haven't seen this before, it's definitely a must-see series of videos. In them, you'll
see some of the legends of the game including Brian Clough, Don Revie, Bill Shankly, Charlie
George, Martin Peters, Gordon Banks, Bob Stokoe, George Best, Tommy Docherty and many others.
I love some of the stories that are coming out from these wanna be Liga Primer Indonesia clubs.
Remember Bogor Raya where some official was quoted as saying they wanted a coach who had World Cup
experience only to end up with some geezer whose last job was as assistant at a Divisi Utama
club?
Now we have Tangerang United linking themselves, in today's Top Skor, with former Chilean
international striker Marcelo Salas!
