Or maybe they can just plead ignorance? Perhaps they'll have changed it by now, so I grabbed a

According to Soccer365 there are even more teams after Onyewu now and few more going for Charlie
Davies. Voetbal International reports that Ajax have come in for free agent U.S. defender
Oguchi Onyewu, also adding Parma and Portsmouth to his list of suitors, while Gazzetta dello Sport
has Genoa and old suitor Livorno prowling around.
I'm going to admit right off the bat this blog won't be for everyone. This by far was one of the
most difficult blog posts I've ever written in the three plus years I've been blogging. Much of
this piece comes from the life experience I've had in my...

Charlie Davies has been released from the hospital and is progressing well in his recovery since
a terrible car accident in October. The American striker was on the rise after proving himself in
Europe, scoring consistently for the USA National Team, and contributing for Sochaux in Ligue 1. He
suffered significant injuries from the car crash and most figured a recovery in time for next
summer's World Cup Finals unrealistic.

*As the U.S. National Team attempts to qualify for the World Cup in 2010, I will write a
series of pieces concentrating on the style, or lack of it, of American soccer. See the other three

Lucky? Yeah. Holy shit, yeah.
Q: Why doesn't Charlie Davies do this dance after he scores (like the two he put past Bordeaux
today)?
A: Probably because he knows it sucks compared to "The Carlton".

Charlie Davies is lucky to be alive, and the long list of injuries he suffered in a deadly car
accident on late Monday evening provides the evidence.
Two of the biggest stars in the Confederations Cup for the United States have been Jay DeMerit
and Charlie Davies. Both are players that did not come up through the traditional development
system for US Soccer (including the National Academy in Bradenton, Florida which neither attended)
and both are players Bob Bradley avoided playing for long period of time on a regular basis.

While the French media reported a few days ago that Hammarby's American striker Charlie Davies had
all but locked up a deal with Sochaux, methinks the phone lines are burning up between his agent

Why wouldn't MLS players dominate the January MLS Camp though? MLS season is long over and
doesn't start up anytime real soon. On Wednesday, February 11th the US MNT plays in Columbus
against rivals Mexico in the first game of the last round of World Cup qualifying. The US has
had good success against Mexico in Columbus and should continue that success in next month.

Oguchi Onyewu out for sushi with the lads. I fully support his decision to get rid of the corn rows

This post is my attempt to release some nervous energy today in light of the events that killed a
young woman and put Charlie Davies in surgery for six hours; I won't be offended if you don't like
it...
This is one of the most distressing posts that I've had to write on this site. I'm sure you all
know the news by now that US national team striker Charlie Davies was a passenger in a SUV that was
in a horrific one-car accident this morning on the George Washington Memorial Parkway just outside
of Washington DC.
It was a busy weekend of soccer in Europ for Americans playing abroad. Oguchi Onyewu scored 2

Harry Houdini just rolled over in his grave. The United States needed not just a minor miracle, but
they needed the downright impossible to happen today. Let's ask ourselves this question right
now... how many of you thought Brazil would beat Italy...

Sorry this is a little late, but I think it's an important discussion to have...
We've all read plenty of articles praising the Nats for their improbably run to the Cup finals,
so we'll spare you the discussion of their "grit" and "heart." (Funny I was always led to believe
that Frankie Hejduk was our sole source of these invaluable commodities.
Though the worst fears over his health and career have passed, it is highly unlikely (to put it
mildly) that Charlie Davies will be match fit in time for the 2010 World Cup. So
who to replace him?
Head over to ASN's USMNT page to vote in the poll.
With Charlie Davies in town for the Gold Cup launch on Saturday he had the opportunity to reunite

Fans of the Red, White and Blue went into the 'Showdown at the Azteca' thinking not only was a

My MFUSA sidekick Jason Davis has a timeline of the events and links to various stories about the
accident.
Ivan Obolo scored the winner in tonight's Stockholm derby at Råsunda, where AIK beat
Djurgården 1-0. "A really fine goal," Obolo told Canal Plus. Modest, isn't he?
AIK's Sporting Director was asked about Obolo's future after the game, and with the transfer
window approaching, he fell short of a resounding commitment to keep the Argentinian in Sweden.
Last game was amazing. While Spain were clearly a better, more skilled team than the USA,
everyone wearing the red, white, and blue put in a good performance. And believe it or not, we
were better on the day. Even our old foe Bob Bradley deserves credit. Ever since he changed to
a proper 4-4-2, the team has scored 5 goals and all were from the run of play!
It appears that the post-Confederations Cup transfer rumor mill is already in full swing, just
one day after the Americans' loss to Brazil in the final. Fox Sports reports that Charlie Davies is
being chased by clubs from Germany, France, and Holland. This would certainly be a step up for the
23-year-old striker if a deal is reached.
