Hello again! It's been a long week since my last post, with the highlight being a trip to the
beautiful Blackbauld Stadium for our U.

US Open Cup
The Union will host Rochester Rhinos in the third round of the US Open Cup this Tuesday after
the USL PRO team defeated NPSL side Brooklyn Italians 3–0 in second round play. The Rhino's are
the only non-MLS team to win the Cup since the start of MLS in 1996, defeating Colorado Rapids
2–0 for the championship in 1999.
US Open Cup
Reading United won its first US Open Cup match in five tries on Tuesday night, defeating New
York Greek American Atlas, 2–1.
A rebounding shot from Ryan Finley found Pedro Ribeiro to put Reading on the board in the 37th
minute. Finley would give Reading the 2–0 in the 55th minute when a foul from former Philadelphia
Union defender Christian Arrieta resulted in a free kick delivery from Steven Neumann.

D.C. United signs goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra 26-year-old a native of Woodbridge,
Va.
Washington, D.C. (February 27, 2012) – D.C. United announced today that the club has signed
goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra. The 26-year-old netminder joins the Black-and-Red
having completed preseason camps in Florida and Arizona.

DC United notched the only win of the weekend with a 1-0 result over the Chicago Fire while
hosts Charleston Battery salvaged a late draw with the Columbus Crew last Saturday.

U-18's and U-16's to compete in Academy Carolina Cup, Collin Martin called into U-20 MNT
camp
Washington, D.C. (February 22, 2012) – D.C. United's U-18 and U-16 Academy teams are set to
compete in the Development Academy Carolina Challenge Cup from February 24 – 27.
I am fond of February. It is the first month of the off-season when you can finally say 'TFC game
next month". That, and the signs that days are getting just a little longer, are important to
me.
Now since I blogged that TFC was using the pre-season stage to shed some players, they turned
around and signed two defenders.
Charlie Davies' early goal and Joseph Ngwenya's second-half strike earned D.C. United a 2-2 draw
with Toronto FC tonight in Charleston, South Carolina to help the Black-and-Red to their second
