Major League Soccer's Disciplinary Committee and overall leadership was kept busy this week
thanks to the Houston Dynamo at Seattle Sounders match. The more famous Colin Clark anti-gay slur
incident earned him a three game suspension, but there is more fallout from the game now. After
post match review Adam Moffat is suspended for his next match and fined due to "a reckless
challenge which endangered the safety of his opponent" (Osvaldo Alonso).

the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. You can now open a Sir Bobby Robson Foundation ISA. This is a

invested by customers.
A significant portion of the proceeds ($10 per scarf) from all pre-orders this week of the
new Pitch Invasion bar scarf will be donated to benefit the Operation Pitch Invasion charity in
Portland, Oregon. Here's why...
When supporters of the Portland Timbers, organized by the 107ist Trust and Timbers Army,
announced in 2011 that they were launching a new charity called Operation Pitch Invasion to support
the growth of the game at the grassroots level in Portland, Pitch Invasion's interest was piqued by
more than just the Doppelgänger.
Continuing their preseason tradition of a Community Shield match to raise funds for charity

on a first-come, first-serve basis, but the club will be accepting donations at the door.

Lionel Messi's 5 star show in Barcelona's 10-2 aggregate win over Bayern
Leverkusen last night had most of the media diving for superlatives.
But it seems Messi had Leverkusen beaten even before a ball was kicked in their Champions League
second leg tie at the Nou Camp, after it was revealed both Michal Kadlec and Manuel Friedrich
fought it out for Messi's shirt at half-time in the first leg in Germany.

International, Association for Suicide prevention and Save the Children.

With charity the theme of the day here on Pies, here's another little yarn to
pluck your cockles and warm your heartstrings.
What you are about to see is Manchester United's Nani, Park Ji-Sung, Jonny Evans and Chris
Smalling humping 200 footballs into the back of the DHL van (with a little help from the tricksy
driver) at Carrington.

Mirror: Forget Cantona, here's our Top 5 players who DID go into politics
Former Manchester United star Eric Cantona was set to launch a bid for the French presidency,
according to reports this morning. But it now appears Cantona is simply the frontman for a
publicity stunt to raise awareness for a French charity.
Bayern Munich arrived in New Delhi, India on Monday to play a friendly against the Indian national
team for charity and Franck Ribery appears to be racing to his hotel room with perhaps that slight
overwhelmed feeling of the subcontinent's sweltering heat we've only heard about. In my best

Football Aid 2012 – Bid to Play at Loftus Road!
Last November I held the Scottish Football Blog's first - perhaps only - blogathon.
One post an hour for 24 hours with topics chosen on Twitter and by fellow bloggers.
All in aid of two fantastic charities: Alzheimer Scotland and the Homeless World Cup.
24 hours, a few energy drinks, too many cigarettes and 17,000 words later and I was done.
Ok, it's not exactly an ad - but this is a definitely a heartwarming photo of Athletic Bilbao's
Fernando Llorente and an adorable girl from a charity visit. Queeee bien! / via Bellazon (Aga)

While the final score was not what the Comets were looking for, the game was still a success. Over
8,200 tickets sold and a bunch of fans got to see a traditional back and forth Comets-Wings rivalry
game. Throw in a fun reunion game, retro jersey's auctioned off for charity and the presentation of
the Turnpike Trophy to the Comets, it all added up to a fun evening.
Any one who follows Mario Balotelli's career knows his slogan, "Why Always Me?" Well some English
rapper was inspired by this and has now penned a song about him. The Italian striker decide to take
advantage of this situation by creating a t-shirt with the help of Umbro. The proceeds of the shirt
will go to a charity of Balotelli's choice and the song will be featured in an upcoming campaign.

Carlos Tevez has once again refused to enter a match after starting on the substitute's bench,
this time during Martin Palermo's testimonial in Buenos Aires. Tevez, who has been frozen out at
Manchester City since pulling a similar protest during a Champions League match against Bayern
Munich in September sparked outrage from both teams taking part in the tribute to Palermo, a friend
and former international teammate.

Please excuse the non-football post. I appreciate that in the modern world we can't move for
charity requests. Whether it's those people on the pavement who won't take a fiver but will
badger you to commit to a year of donations, or people like me asking for money, charity is
everywhere.

"WAKE UP!!!"
A 12-year old girl from Crotone in Italy has been woken from a 15-day coma by the soothing voice
of her idol, one Alessandro Del Piero. That's a sentence that doesn't tend to get used very
often.
Jade fell ill and reportedly slipped into a coma while watching the goals from Juventus' 2-0 win
over Atalanta on January 22nd.
Over the last 19 years of his career, Alessandro Del Piero become a revered footballing legend
while sticking with Juventus through good times and bad. He's won a World Cup and committed his
time and financial support to cancer research. He also dresses up like Santa Claus and walks the
streets of Turin at Christmastime.
The charity appeal set up to raise money in memory of Nigel Doughty has reached the £4,000 mark in
under two weeks. The tribute, set up by LTLF Forum member Paul Elmore, has been raising money for
ChildLine, one of Mr Doughty's favourite charities. With gift aid included the current total raised
is £4,822.
The biennial Sport Relief charity telethon began Friday and Chelsea's Frank Lampard joined his
fiance Christine Bleakley and the cast of Outnumbered (plus a guest appearance by Howard Webb) in a
comedy sketch to support it.
The premise of the sketch is that Lampard is stuck with Karen from Outnumbered, a mascot for the
"big" match against Aston Villa, while Christine has to put up with the men of the family in the
stands.

They are back at it again! Soccer player McCall Zerboni and Emma Bayer, are raising money again

to help make a difference.

Romario sets up a vastly inferior Argentinean in a 2011 charity match
Brazilian legend Romario has never been short on self confidence, and with a illustrious 24-year
career that saw him win a World Cup and numerous domestic titles, he has every reason to feel good
about himself.
Yet the 46-year-old, now a member of Brazilian congress, has anointed himself into the Holy
Triumvirate of the best three players of all time, ranking himself above a certain Lionel
Messi.
