A businessman has launched a bid to reverse a decision by European authorities to give Liverpool FC
a trademark on the Liver Bird.
Alfie Hincks, who runs a maritime training company, has applied to have the Anfield club's claim on
the famous symbol struck out.
The 45-year-old, who lives in Fazakerley, said the symbol belongs to the city and should not be
allowed to be "privatized".
Late yesterday afternoon, in the suprising flurry of MLS and RBNY news, it was announced that Seth
Stammler will be retiring from professional soccer at the end of the 2010 season. He has elected to
pursue an advanced degree at the University of Chicago.
Seth will retire from MLS as a one-team man, playing his entire professional career for the New
York Red Bulls.
Dimitar Berbatov has used the platform he has been given from scoring three goals against
Liverpool to promote his charity. He created Dimitar Berbatov Foundation in 2008 but this wasn't
the start of his charity. In 2001 he saved the life of a sick Bulgarian girl by paying for her
liver transplant and actively helps Unicef.
