With a little help, that could be the next Raul Diaz Arce
This is a soccer blog
first but it's also a community - and thus a perfect platform for me to share the story of a good
friend of mine living, volunteering, and playing the beautiful game in El Salvador - all in the
name of
community.

Through the contributions of Steve Sirk, his employer and the Crew Soccer Foundation,
every copy of Sirk's book, "A Massive Season," sold via the Crew Gear store and TheCrew.com between
today and Feb. 2 at 5 p.m. will generate a $22 donation to the international medical aid
organization Doctors Without Borders for relief efforts in Haiti.
John Terry has always been one of footballs bad boys. No matter how hard he tries to be good, he
always seems to screw up. In the past year, he came under fire for allegedly selling Chelsea tours
to support his charity. Now, the papers are saying how he knocked up Wayne Bridge's ex-girlfriend.
Should this man be England's leader?
The turn of the new year brings a whole new list of honors, and Blackburn striker Jason Roberts
is delighted and surprised at being awarded an MBE. Roberts was given the award for his extensive
charitable contributions in the United Kingdom and abroad.
"I'm very humbled by that award really," Roberts told rovers.
I am very excited for this blog post because after months of planning we are only a few days
away from the Filleo Project New Orleans! Today I am picking up Jed Zayner and his crew from the
New Orleans airport. Jed plays for the Columbus Crew and started his own non profit called
Filleo.
It goes without saying that the devastation from the Haitian Earthquake is unlike anything we
have seen in this region in recent times. Not even Hurricane Kartina comes close.
As somebody who has regularly seen the Haitian team play live in person (since the majority of
their friendlies are held in Florida, not Haiti) I am still at a loss to rationalize the loss
of life related to football.
Part I of an on-going back and forth between Ed from Liverpool Offside on Rafa Benitez's tenure
at Liverpool. Here's yesterday's intro in case you missed it.
I. Record as a Manager
Ed: Seems like sort of a benign way to start this discussion considering
everything that's gone on this season, but hopefully it'll be a gentle introduction.
Over 50,000 spectators turned out to watch the Match for Poverty that took place last night in
Lisbon, Portugal. International football stars donned their football kits to raise money for the
people of Haiti after the recent earthquake devastated the area in recent weeks. This is the
seventh year running that football has reached out to people in need.
Charity matches bring out players of all shapes and sizes.
