Can't believe the team borne from fans didn't do right by them...
First of all, I get it Philly Union. I do.
And on the surface, actually getting Bimbo to sponsor your jersey is a coup. It's probably a
pretty lucrative deal and the Bimbo brand carries weight...some places.
However, Bimbo as a sponsor of important clubs does not extend into the conscience of most fans
in the United States.
Tomorrow night at the 810 Zone on the Plaza there is a chance for you to say goodbye to Jimmy
Conrad. One of his favorite charities in KC, the Child Protection Center, is throwing him a
farewell party Thursday night, the 13th. The farewell party will go from 5-8PM in the game room at
the 810 Zone. You can also give $10 for a raffle ticket with the prizes being a Jimmy Conrad white
long sleeve Wizards jersey, a Jimmy Conrad Chivas USA jersey, and 2 tickets to the Wizards-Chivas
USA game at the new stadium once that date is announced.
Seattle Sounders will have their second Community Shield match on 6 March, this year against MLS
Cup winners Colorado Rapids. With the Sounders being the current holders of the US Open Cup, the
match is truly analogous to the Community Shield matches in England. It's a great idea from MLS'
most forward-thinking club, and one that raised over $80,000 for local charities last year.
