Ryan Giggs will be honoured with the freedom of the city of Salford today.
"Ryan is a role model to young people and a proud ambassador of the city," said
councillor John Warmisham. "He is the ideal candidate for freedom of the city. He does
tremendous work for Unicef in relation to children and other charities and has never forgotten his
Salford roots.
The news story of the day -- which could become the news story of the year in the Caribbean -- is
the major earthquake that struck just off the coast of Haiti this afternoon. I don't know what to
say about the earthquake and its aftermath; to say that it's bad is a severe understatement. There
