Beckham angry over auction blunder

David Beckham is upset with a charity auction that offered a meeting with him as a prize without his agreement.

Mum Jeanne Kelly paid £3,500 for her son Conor to have a date with the England footballer, but the prize was cancelled by organisers at the last minute.

David James Uses Column Fee For Charitable Donation

Portsmouth and England goalkeeper David James is not only an eco-crusader, but also a philanthropist. James has been writing a column for Guardian, about football, of course, and has donated his column fee to the Beneficial Foundation in Portsmouth.

The Beneficial Foundation gives "training and support for those who are disadvantaged in Portsmouth and South East Hampshire", specifically providing mental health services. Click to continue reading...

Edwin Van Der Sar & The Blue Chair Movement

Manchester United and Holland goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar managed to get his hands on some blue chairs, and involved with the charity better known as The Blue Chair Movement. Started by educator Marcus Johnson at the Shrewsbury School, the charity is working to create a book compiled of photographs chronicling the journey of the blue chairs, and will donate all proceeds from the sale of the book to Cure Leukaemia and the Shropshire Blood Trust Fund.
