Given all the glowing publicity surrounding the new Gold Coast United franchise early in the
season, including a cloying puff piece on Channel 9's
60 Minutes, this makes particularly
depressing reading.
Yes, stadium deals are tricky things. Sydney FC, for one, suffered from an onerous deal with the
SFS (Aussie Stadium, as it then was) in the first A-League season, one which was largely
responsible for the loss the club made in 2005/06.

John: Watching the roar wasn't much fun Saturday
Informed Source: I'll bet. They seem to be in a big low.
John: Bob Malcolm caused 2 goals and looked like he wasn't even playing, so did Moore in the 1st 20
mins.
Informed Source: Malcolm may well know that he's unlikely to be part of the main mix from here on

Or at least he loves weather people. Espinoza visited Channel 9 today to do a satellite interview
with the BBC in advance of tomorrow's World Cup qualifier between the USA and Honduras. While he
was there, Espinoza ran into Bryan Busby, Channel 9's weather guy. The two introduced themselves
and chatted for a bit before posing for this picture.

Though it's a little blurry, here is a picture of Michael Kraus scoring the game-winning goal

direction. Perhaps a guest player.
However, more than the announcement that former Channel 9 sports commentor Chris Bombolas is to be
the new Roar Chair was the photo.

Had a chat with FFA Tech Director Han Berger, the man with the plan to take the game forward over
the next four years in Australia.
He has the ear of Pim, or Tim Verbeek as he's known on Channel 9, and picked the Under 13 boys team
this week at the National Championships.
He has opinions on elite football, junior football and everything you'd hope for from a Technical
Director.
