Part 4

Maradona appeared on the Argentine Channel 7 program, "6 7 8″.

Maradona talked about the attacks on him by the Argentine media after his controversial press conference, about Bilardo, Veron, the difficulties of being a national team manager, how he chooses players, and the rumors that Bilardo made the substitutions against Uruguay.

Flashforward

The Footbal Tragic 10 October @ 10:30 PM EST
The premise of Channel 7's new sci-fi series might not lie in the realms of fantasy after all. Last night, watching the Australia v. Netherlands game, I had a vivid premonition of how Pim Verbeek's side will approach games against superior (or even peer) opposition in South Africa next year.
Plenty of shuffling the ball across the back four. Click to continue reading...

Has anyone seen this man?

Football in the Capital 25 August @ 12:10 AM EST
Where's Arnie? Our Olyroos supremo? Anyone heard him speak? He did an interview with Channel 7, like they'd know what to ask but nothing with our football media not even with his "very silent" media mates who have strong links to the man. Robbie Slater and the amazingly supportive SMH journo Mike Cockerill. Click to continue reading...

Oh Nikita you could have been a hero

Football in the Capital 10 August @ 06:12 AM EST
Argentina defeated Australia 1-0 in Shanghai but Perth Glory's Nikita Rukavystya could have stole the show....if he'd have finished one of his three chances.
Argentina ran the show, but Aussie Coach Graham Arnold had his defence working overtime to halt the threat of the Olympic Champions. Click to continue reading...

Olyroos 0 v Argentina 1: Nikita Rukavytsya almost the hero

A seat at the A-League 10 August @ 06:02 AM EST
I got to see the 2nd half live on channel 7. Argentina were clearly on another planet to the Olyroos. And yet they couldn't score and were becoming increasingly penulant, firing off at everything. Thompson off Rukavytsya on. 15 seconds later he is away, running into the box from the left and firing a bullet - into the side netting. Click to continue reading...

I can see the funny side: When are Olyroos playing Argentina

A seat at the A-League 10 August @ 03:58 AM EST
At this, largely under 23, level Argentina are probably the world's best. So the Olyroos v Argentina would attract capacity crowds at a ground in Australia.
But on Channel 7 they won't tell when their delayed telecast starts. So there will be no pub loads of fans watching that then. And all the kids whose parents can't afford Foxtel don't even get fair warning and promotion on the free stuff. Click to continue reading...

Westfield will sponsor the new W-League set to kick off in October, whilst our National Womens team will be known as the Westfield Matilda's. Click to continue reading...

Channel Seven Olympic Coverage

Hands On Football 24 July @ 04:52 AM EST
All we ask, is for a FAIR GO As we all know, Channel 7 is the Australian broadcaster for the Olympics, as they have been for the past 3 or 4. For us football fans the bells have started to ring again. I assume most of us remember the NSL. So then most of us remember when [...] Click to continue reading...

Gordon Bray to call the Olympic...

Football in the Capital 23 July @ 01:50 AM EST
Football. Gordon Bray is a Rugby Union game caller. And a good one at that. But could you imagine anything more unprofessional than getting Les Murray, Craig Foster or Simon Hill to call the Wallabies/All Blacks game.
Channel 7, it's a farce. You know it, we all know it.
Still I remember listening. Click to continue reading...
