Last Englishman Not Standing
There's another new name added to the injury list after the conclusion of the England U-21 game
last night when Kieran Gibbs limped out of the game after just 20 odd minutes. I do not know for
sure the extend of his injury but if it really is a broken metatarsal, it would mean April or May
as his return date, which will also effectively mean an early end to what was supposed to be a
promising season for me.

We face Sunderland this Saturday at the Stadium of Light and here I am on Tuesday night
wondering whether we will see something different from Arsenal this weekend. I think I mentioned it
in the aftermath of RVP's injury but today I'm going to give it full attention.
Traditionally, Wenger has preferred the conventional 4-4-2 with the striker popping up at the
flanks just like Henry once did and another idiot who tried to do the same but to no avail but this
season saw something new.

Finally there is an official statement from the club on the extend of RVP's injury and it's 6
weeks. That's a total of 11 matches that the Dutchman will miss. 8 Premier League games, 2
Champions League games and 1 Carling Cup game (which I doubt he will feature in anyway). That spate
of matches includes Sunderland (A), Std Liege (H), Chelsea (H), Man City (A), Stoke (H), Olympiakos
(A), Liverpool (A), Burnley (A), Hull (H), Villa (H) and Portsmouth (A).

Hello again. First things first, I apologize if you've been checking in and find that there's no
new post or update on the blog (Who am I kidding?, I wonder how many do actually follow my
postings?) But if you have, then the only reason I can give is that there is really nothing to
update. The international break is really sucking the life out of football bloggers.

Better him than Usmanov
News fluttered in yesterday that the American tycoon, Stan Kroenke has purchased more Arsenal
shares to bring his shares to 29.9%. Just 0.09% short of needing to make a move for the rest of the
shares. Now I've reserved my thoughts on this matter for quite some time as it has already been
highlighted in many other blogs and there is no need for me to talk anymore about it, but with Stan
so close to a takeover, I guessed now is as good a time as any to give this topic a special
mention.

Samir: Let it go Fab, they can't help it if they're that bad
Ok. I'll admit if you think that's lame but that pretty much sums up the match doesn't it.
Andrey Arshavin had a blast as Arsenal met (thrash) Alkmaar in the Champions League encounter last
night. Qualification is not mathematically secured yet but it would take a miraculous set of
results for Arsenal not to go through.

A win tonight at Ashburton Grove will see Arsenal qualify for the from the first group stage of
Champions League for the 10th consecutive seasons. Not even the great Barcelonas or Real Madrids or
AC Milans can lay claim to such an impeccable consistency. Tonight sees the return fixture with AZ
Alkmaar who pegged us back at the final minute of the game with an equalizer.

It always feels good to see Spurs lose, especially if we're the one that beat them
If Arsenal were to win anything this season, Robin Van Persie's contribution to it would be very
very vital. If Fabregas is the fulcrum of the side and the player others look for the ammunition,
then RVP will the one looking to be at the end of those supplies.

A very good Saturday to all of you. No Arsenal today as they will only be playing tomorrow. So
full preview only on tomorrow's post.
Arsenal held their AGM on Thursday and it was a much relaxed one compared to the one held post
the semifinal lost to Man United. There were no one in the party who questioned Arsene Wenger's
actions or tactics.

Pity the lonely referee at the side
With Arsenal only playing on Sunday night, I will not start to preview the game just yet.
Today's topic may not impact Arsenal at least for the current season but depending on how it turns
out, may have a large bearing for Arsenal. The Europa League was introduced this season to replace
the old UEFA Cup.

Today is an auspicious day as the longest serving manager in Arsenal's history celebrates his
60th birthday. There won't be any lavish parties or anything. I'm betting that it will just be a
quiet dinner with the family and then straight to his desk to run through Tuesday's draw at AZ
Alkmaar.

Something unbelievable happened yesterday. Did Arsenal win the encounter at DSB Stadion? No,
they didn't. Did AZ Alkmaar managed to overcome the financial disparity and obvious difference in
squad strength to upset the odds and defeat Arsenal? No, they didn't either. It ended 1-1 and turns
out to be a real shocker as it was Arsenal's first ever drawn game this season.

Remember Reyes or Cygan?
The European journey continues tonight for Arsenal against the champions of Dutch Eredivise, AZ
Alkmaar. This is the first of back-to-back fixtures against the Ronald Koeman's team. Koeman who
was at Arsenal's 6-2 thrashing of Blackburn, said that he saw some weakness in Arsenal's game
during that game and will look to exploit it.
