A case of back to normal today, or certainly being a more sedate weekend after the amount of
travelling done previously with my trips down to London and South Wales.

With the European Championships getting closer by the day, Reading full-back Ian Harte believes his
hopes of playing for the Republic of Ireland again are drifting away.
The 34-year-old has been a loyal servant to his country over the years, since his glory days with
Leeds United, playing football in the Champions League a decade ago.
Venturing into the QPR forums, I find, as I always do in these opposition fan previews, a mix of
optimism and realism. The optimists are pointing out that nobody expected they would beat Chelsea
last week, the realists pointing out that nobody really expected Fulham to batter them 6-0 at the
start of October either.

Matt Scot/The Digger - The Guardian re Amit Bhatia Possible Renewed Bid for QPR or Interest in
Millwall
As Old Trafford shook on Sunday, so should have the heads of all of those who thought that it'd
be the day when Manchester United's luck finally ran out.
Dominant is an adjective that hasn't and won't be used in describing this Manchester United
team, but perhaps they were saving it for when it really mattered.

Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has his sights set squarely on the forthcoming match
between the Red Devils and Premier League returnees Newcastle. The Bulgarian admits that despite a
momentum-building win over Chelsea in last week's Community Shield, the Magpies will be no easy
task.
"It's always good to beat a top team like Chelsea," Berbatov told United Review.
This afternoon the 20 English Premier League clubs across the length and breadth of the country are
in the process of making their final preparations for the opening day fixtures of the 2010/2011
English Premier League season. The first round of Premier League fixtures are set to take place
this weekend, and it seems that 2 of the newly promoted teams are set for a baptism of fire with
tough away games on the cards.
It is now looking increasingly likely that Newcastle United will miss out on the signing of
Marseille winger Hatem Ben Arfa. ClubCall is reporting that Newcastle have not matched
Marseille's asking price for the midfielder, with the Championship winners asking for a £500,000
loan deal as opposed to Marseille's request of a £6 million permanent transfer.
Championship winners Newcastle United are reportedly interested in bringing French midfielder
Hatem Ben Arfa to the club ahead of their return season in the Premier League. The
Telegraph is reporting that the Magpies want to sign the midfielder in a loan deal from French
side Marseille, and the report suggested that he has fallen out of favor with boss Didier
Deschamps.

Liverpool will hope to continue their dominant record over Queens Park Rangers at Anfield, as Kenny
Dalglish aims to get their season back on track.
A painful defeat at Fulham on Monday night ended the Merseysiders' recent unbeaten run, with Jay
Spearing seeing red in his club's first defeat in 12 matches.
Liverpool return to Anfield this weekend for a Saturday afternoon match-up against Championship
winners QPR. Kenny Dalglish's men will be desperate to bounce back from a disappointing 1-0 defeat
to Fulham last weekend. They have struggled against newly-promoted teams so far this summer having
battled to bad home draws against Norwich and Swansea.

The consensus at the moment seems to be that Aston Villa's Emile Heskey will partner Wayne Rooney
in attack against the US.
Intriguingly, Heskey will have the number 21 on his back. Another famous forward once wore the very
same number for England during our one and, so far, only successful tournament.

The Fort Lauderdale Strikers will battle the Puerto Rico Islanders tonight Friday, April 29th, 2011
at 8:00 p.m. at Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium. The Islanders, the reigning Div 2 champions and also
the reigning CFU Club Championship winners, are undefeated in the NASL so far this season winning 2
games away and another in their home debut.
USL PRO clubshave been busy with player signings this week. The Rochester
Rhinos announced the inking of former Puerto Rico Islanders' forward Kendall
Jagdeosingh, while the Richmond Kickers signed Stanley Nyazamba, a
midfielder who played for FC Tampa Bay in 2010.
Goal.com calls the Union's handling of Chris Seitz the "worst ongoing saga" of the year and
notes, "As Seitz made his way to FC Dallas for free in the second stage of the Re-Entry Process,
Nowak probably couldn't have helped but wonder what he could have done with the sum of allocation
money – reportedly between $175,000 and $200,000 – used to secure Seitz's services from Real
Salt Lake last year.
Toronto FC are Canadian club champions for a second straight season
Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit Toronto FC are the Nutrilite Canadian Championship winners for
a second consecutive season and will represent Canada in the 2010-11 CONCACAF Champions League.
Toronto FC had already secured top spot before their final game of the campaign against Vancouver
Whitecaps yesterday and, thus, decided to play a number of youth players from the club's
academy.
Tomorrow, last season's Championship winners Reading travel to West Bromwich Albion, who are enjoying their third consecutive Premier League season. Germany captain Ramona Petzelberger introduces the 2011 UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship
winners, from a defensive table tennis demon to a breakdancing forward.
Statistics are often as misleading as they are informative. On one hand this game is between the
2004 European Championship winners and the 2002 World Cup Semi-Finalists. Another way of describing
the game is between a side whose World Cup finals record outside their own country is just one win
in seventeen games (and that over African minnows Togo) and the only European nation ever to play
at a World Cup without scoring.
