Liverpool have had a very bad start to the season.Thirteen games played only 6 wins and 2 draws to
their name with an astounding 20 goals conceded already, our title challenge in all but over in
November. Why have Liverpool let in so many goals this season? One has to question the role of backs
coach Mauricio Pellegrino.

I like the Galaxy to beat Real Salt Lake.
I asked my friend Dan Loney, who is a huge Galaxy fan but hates David
Beckham like people who really hate things hate things, "Would you be conflicted if Becks
scored the game-winner Sunday night?"
Dan said, "HE OWES US.

will crown a champion.

Greetings, Dynamo fans. As we are all well aware, our beloved Orange fell short of the 2009
championship. It was a valiant effort against David Beckham and the LA Galaxy. Watching from
Houston, the Dynamo played well on Friday night, but early Saturday was a different story.
As midnight passed, LA took advantage of two costly fouls by Ricardo Clark.

I read Anson Dorrance's book "The Vision of a Champion" a while back, his 2nd book where he
talks about the competitive cauldron system they use for UNC Women's Soccer. He talked about a
coach who had adapted it for youth teams, but the links provided don't work anymore and Google
failed me, so I'm working on my own adaption.

After granting a spot in next year's first division of Brazilian football, Vasco da Gama
finished the combo and took home the dubious title of champion of the second division. Wearing a
commemorative jersey (not very tasteful, if I may say), the club cameback to beat America-RN at a
packed Maracana.

I was watching MNF last night and they were interviewing a coach from one of the games Sunday.
The coach said a couple things I thought were important and thus will share them.
He said that each of his players expects excellence from themselves. The individual players work
their butts off so they can better themselves as players and contribute to the best of their
abilities to the team.

Charm City FC defeats La Mara - who had previously won the tournament for eight consecutive
years - in a barn-burner championship match that saw the final scoreline stand at 3-2. CCFC has
said they'll be back next year to defend their title and I'm sure La Mara will want to recapture
the title!

Valencia netted a 3-1 victory over Zaragoza on Sunday in what could be called a watershed
match for the club led by David Villa. Valencia now sits at 21 points and is a mere 5 behind 1st
place Barca. Now that the Top 4 teams are within 5 points of one another we can really see a race
developing at the top of the Table for the Premier Division.

I watched the Liverpool vs. Birmingham game on the box yesterday evening and saw the Red's truly
batter Birmingham. I muted the TV as I couldn't stand for another Jon Champion assisted commentary
and put on Five Live instead. Out of the fire and into the frying pan. Instead of Champion, I got
Green, Alan Green.

I might be a bit premature in saying this, but with our Champion's League hopes hanging by a
thread, I was looking at the B competition, The Europa League.
In it you have some of the powerhouses of European football such as Stum Graz, FC Sheriff, Fc
Twente, Bate, Dinamo Zagreb, Austria Vienna and other Luminaries of the game!

Liverpool drew 1-1 with Lyon last night, leaving any chance of getting through the group stages of
the Champion's League hanging by a thread' but what do you think went wrong last night? There are a
number of possible reasons: Rafa's tactics/his woeful decision to play Voronin/the lack of
introduction of Aquilani/bringing on Babel too late, [.

Carragher, Ayala, Darby, Insua, Agger, Kyrgiakos, Kuyt, Lucas, Benayoun, Aquilani, Babel,
Mascherano, Spearing, Plessis, Ngog, Voronin, Torres.

Sir Alex Ferguson has referee issues again. He called referee Olegario Benquerenca's decision not
to give Darren Fletcher a penalty in the Man U v/s CSKA champion's league clash the worst decision
he has ever seen.Meanwhile the game ended at 3 goals a piece.Michael Owen's goal stretched the
offside rule to the limits of its credibility.

The Reds of Liverpool showed great promise early in the season going on a 6 match winning streak
after dropping their first match to Tottenham. Then, over the last 4 matches...they've lost 3.Â
Liverpool was so UPthat I considered doing a long interest piece on the team, then
I got distracted with all the other mayhem and foolishness going on in the Premier League and now I
look up and they've lost 3 of 4 matches.

The News Of The World have had a statement from a
Man United ‘insider', who claims that
defender
Rio Ferdinand could be out for up to eight weeks. Ferdinand has struggled with a
back injury ever since last season's Champion's League game against Porto.
It has been obvious that there is something wrong with Ferdinand; he hasn't quite been himself and
if that is down to an injury then hopefully that can be sorted.

So once again, right here on the cusp of the playoffs, when we should all be feeling good about MLS

is a league that is run by a bunch of marketing executives who think that selling toothpaste is the
same as running a sports league.

After Barca destroyed Zaragoza 6-0 the other day now we have saying Xavi saying it's all good in
the home of the '92 Olympics.
I beg to differ.
Listen, they drew Valencia (no slouch of a team, but they're not as good as Barca), they lost to
a Russian club in the Champion's League and then they took out their frustrations on Zaragoza.

We've seen it happen before. Many times over. Sadly, companies and their marketing teams like to
take hot footballers and turn them into dorks for sales purposes. It's a wide-spread (albeit,
entertaining) issue in our community.
This Gillette ad wants you to rate the "champion of the future" and you can win a razor.
