of the year's most memorable matches took place, and chances are the return to South Africa could
feature several new faces that didn't make the trip south last summer.

Personally I love them. The Carolina Challenge Cup, the PanPacific Championship, the Disney
World Pro Soccer Classic, even La Manga with the Sounders!
In fact one of the things I love about Major League Baseball is the annual tradition of Spring
Training. It would be nice to see MLS develop a history and tradition with these affairs.

the Charleston Battery, 0-0, in Saturday's doubleheader at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, South
Carolina.
Uninformed viewers of Sky Sports News on Saturday evening might have expressed a degree of
surprise at their decision over the weekly "Result Of The Day", but it was hastily explained.
Durham City's 2-1 win away against FC United of Manchester wasn't just an upset. It was a massive,
massive surprise, of course but, considerably more importantly than this, it was a vindication for
a season that has seen them trying to play out their fixtures with a degree of dignity in the face
of seemingly insurmountable odds odds that haven't often been given by those pointing and laughing
at the club's record this season.
United nears the end of the pre-season as they take on Toronto FC in the second round of the

the winners of this quaint little competition continues.

In D.C. United's second preseason encounter with Toronto FC, the Black-and-Red claimed a 1-0
victory in the second match of their 2010 Carolina Challenge Cup run. The first contest between the
two clubs in Bradenton, FL was an innocuous 0-0 draw, but Wednesday's match was the polar
opposite.
The game was full of hard challenges, back and forth play, and multiple bookings.
The task was tough, but looked attainable on multiple occasions for the Columbus Crew.
The Crew needed to win in Mexico to advance to the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals, and
looked capable of doing so after taking a 1-0 lead just before halftime and tying Toluca 2-2 in the
second half to even the overall series.
