Here's LD on the quality of this year's new pickups:
"The benefit of having guys like Chad (Barrett) and Adam (Cristman) and Juan Pablo
(Angel) and now Miguel (Lopez) is you have guys who can pull off plays on their own so you don't
have to depend on David (Beckham) making a killer pass or me pulling off a play.

Landon Donovan played all over the pitch last season. Whether at forward, in central midfield or
out wide, Donovan played a variety of roles for the Los Angeles Galaxy in the club's Supporters
Shield run.
"Heeeere's Alan!"
IN THE TUNNEL:Could a rag-tag Toronto FC line-up shock LA Galaxy in the same way that Panama had just shocked USA
at the Gold Cup? Or, would they be as impotent as Canada was against 10-man Guadeloupe? Seriously,
it's not even a country! 1st versus nearly worst in Hollywood.

CARSON, Calif., -- Landon Donovan's return to action after missing time with a knee injury came
just in time as his two goals helped lift the Los Angeles Galaxy past the Portland Timbers, 3-0, at
the Home Depot Center on Saturday night.
Both Chad Barrett and Landon Donovan are up for Goal of the
Week for their strikes this past Saturday. I have to say that Barrett's gol was a magnificent
individual effort off of a very good pass. Donovan made his look like a piece of cake, but it was
Juan Pablo Angel's exceptional cross that made it possible.

There isn't going to be very much that's pretty about today's clash between New York Red Bulls
and the Los Angeles Galaxy. The Galaxy are not yet last year's fluid ball-handling team and are
still experiencing drop-offs in the defensive end and the offensive third. New York had the best
midfield unit in the league when you combine talent with their ability to work with one
another.

An own goal and a spectacular strike put the Colorado Rapids in a first-half hole, and then an
ejection sealed the team's fate in a 3-1 home loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday night.
The loss ended a nine-game unbeaten streak for the Rapids (5-4-7, 22 points) and continued a run
of disappointing results for the team at Dick's Sporting Goods Park this season.

Like my new hat? Got it in Malvern! It's Murphy's Law in football, as in many other pro
sports, that an ex-member of your club inevitably comes back to haunt you. Saturday night was
Dwayne De Rosario's turn. Arguably the best player ever to don the TFC kit, De Ro of course left
Toronto under a cloud of "he said, Mo saids".
Union
The Union has become well-known for its innovative use of social networking tools. The latest
bit of cleverness is this: when their Facebook page gets 92,012 likes, they will unveil the new
designs for the first and second kit. You can 'like' the Union by clicking here. As of this
writing, there are only 6,500 'likes' to go.
Clubs can protect 11 players ahead of the 10-round draft for the Montreal Impact, which will
join MLS next year.
A team can only lose one player.
Wonder if Impact Coach Jesse Marsch will take a player from his most recent former club, Chivas
USA? Will he bring home Canadian Ante Jazic, a solid addition to any expansion team's backline?
Major League Soccer clubs have either opened up their training camp or about too. So it is a
perfect time them for the first MLS rankings of 2011, courtesy of the MLS Soccer.
There is little surprise that the team who made the single biggest splash this offseason is
ranked number one.

The Los Angeles Galaxy are going "all-in" in 2011.
After falling short of the MLS Cup the last two years, the Galaxy have loaded the roster with a
number of veterans to make another serious play for the Cup in 2011. Veterans Juan Pablo Angel and
Frankie Hejduk will look to make major contributions to a potential Galaxy title run and build upon
a team that fell in the Western Conference Final last season to FC Dallas.

Major League Soccer returns Tuesday as the Seattle Sounders host last season's Supporters'
Shield-winning LA Galaxy in front of what is sure to be raucous crowd at Quest Field.
"There's a lot at stake because obviously they are the team that knocked us out of the playoffs,
so we want to come out and we want to play well for that reason," Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid
said.
I know this was an away game, but I still feel like Galaxy fans should get a refund. I managed
to pull the game up on my iPad and watch it live. If you are waiting for the 10:30 tape delay,
don't bother.
By the time the game actually loaded on my iPad LA was down 1-0. Within a few minutes Saunders
had a clear foul in the box for a PK that made it 2.
Chicago 1- Los Angeles 2 With LA missing several players including Landon Donovan, David Beckham,
and Juninho, Chicago was unable to take advantage at Toyota Park. Chad Barrett opened the scoring
for the Galaxy in the 42nd minute and Omar Gonzalez made it 2-0 in the 72nd. Chicago had used all
their substitutes by the 69th minute and were reduced to 10 men when Cory Gibbs was forced to exit
with an injury.
Hey everyone.
This recap isn't a week late! Yay for me!
OK I'm keeping the intro short this week. I would like to head out to the tailgate. My witty
rejoinders will be back for the Houston recap.

I don't think I've ever been this entertained by a 1-1 draw in MLS since I started watching the
league back in 1996 as a half-season ticket holder for DC United. And it's not just because that's
the scoreline I predicted yesterday (because it you read me regularly, you know that's basically a
fluke).

LA Galaxy 4, Sporting KC 1
Well this game proved to be far more exciting than previously expecting. The New York game seemed
to wake the Galaxy up to the talent they have on their roster and on Saturday night, it showed.
Apart from an unfortunate own goal by Omar Gonzalez, the Galaxy hosted a clinic on technical
proficiency.
CARSON, Calif. – After four long and often frustrating years, David Beckham has learned to bend
it once again. That famous right foot, so effective and prolific that it spawned the title of a
movie, has been quiet for much of his Los Angeles Galaxy career, but its effectiveness has returned
with a vengeance this [.

The end of the world didn't come this weekend which was nice but at the same time it also
brought us some very tight games in week 10. In all, week 10 in Major League Soccer went nearly as
I thought it would on Friday.
The New England Revolution will be looking to erase the memory of a disheartening 2-1 defeat in
San Jose when they take on the Los Angeles Galaxy at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro this Saturday
night. The Galaxy will be playing their third match in seven days after picking up a gritty 1-0 win
in Houston on Wednesday and feature the league's hottest goalscorer at the moment, Landon
Donovan.
Beckham vs DC
A game of missed chances and lost opportunities. United arrived in their third kits, the all-red.
The Galaxy threatened early on however it appeared that through and through United was more
threatening. 20,036 fans were on hand to witness the match at the Home Depot Center.
Bruce Arena compensated for his missing players by pushing Beckham in centrally to compensate for
their depleted roster.
All effort and no ball sums up the entire Galaxy-United match.
We always miss players when they are away, but we could have won the game at the end of the
day. I don't think we didn't play well because of missing Landon. – David
Beckham
The only one good thing about tonight is that we lost these games at home last
year.
LOS ANGELES (1st) VS. TORONTO (15th) HOME DEPOT CENTER - SATURDAY 10:30PM ETTV: GOLTV RADIO: FAN 590
THE KICKABOUT:- With Galaxy hit harder by Gold Cup call-ups than The Reds, will TFC have the gall to use the
tournament as an excuse?
I couldn't watch the San Jose game until the last few minutes, so imagine my surprise when I
turned it on to see this. Mike Magee can't pick up the ball! That's a handball!! Well, not that
night.
Who would have thought that for a number of weeks keeper would be the most exciting position on
the field for the Galaxy?
Remember Chinatown? It is a great movie about water rights, land development, and conspiracy,
starring a young Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. There is an iconic, incest revealing scene in
which Nicholson is trying to determine Dunaway's relationship to this girl. He keeps slapping her
and with each slap she switches from "my sister" to "my daughter.

Things seemed to be slipping away for the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Tied at one heading into stoppage time, it looked as if the Galaxy's chances of advancing to the
group stages of the CONCACAF Champions League Tournament would end at the hands of Monarcas
Morelia. But all it needed was one chance.
CARSON, Calif.
Jeez, get a roomThere are still a few negative types out there in North American
football who claim that David Beckham's five-year affair with Major League Soccer was a failure.
Long before he raised the MLS Cup last night - this simply wasn't the case. Did he play his best
football with LA Galaxy, far from it.
Because PSV Torontohoven just wasn't funny
Winter is upon us! So are years of "winter" puns! Yes, the news travelled quickly across the
Atlantic yesterday that Dutch legend Aron Winter was on the verge of joining Toronto FC. In what
capacity we are yet to know for certain - at the time of writing it could be Technical Director,
Head Coach, GM, starting midfielder or head groundskeeper.
End of The Chad in The TorontoWith no 1st Round pick and only a handful of mid-range picks at their disposal, most Toronto FC
observers predicted a quiet day at the MLS SuperDraft. But, you know what they say... "when in
Baltimore..." umm... "do stuff?" Sure, that works! And stuff they did.

It seems that everything is changing and everything remains the same. Last year the Galaxy had a
fairly solid back line, an unsettled midfield, and a shaky strike force.
After a long day of trades, drafts, and Rooney's brother, we finally can step back and see how
Toronto FC fared in yesterday's MLS SuperDraft. I'll spare you all of the minor backroom details
and get right to it: TFC picked up four new players and offloaded 2 more to continue the mass
exodus from BMO.
