By Dr. Raf Crowley As I was mulling over different topics to write about this week, I discovered a
link on the 4-letter's Soccernet website that said in the midst of the NFL lockout, Chad Ochocinco
is going to try out for Sporting Kansas City. In the vein of MLS-style preview pieces that we've
been [.
Chad Ochocinco (or Johnson, not sure what he goes by now) is trying out today with Sporting
KC.
The Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver has always talked about his skills on the real football
field and today he will begin a four-day tryout with the Major League Soccer team in Kansas
City.
You can watch his tryout live here.
Last week on Twitter, Kei Kamara and Teal Bunbury tweeted at Cincinnati Bengals' wide receiver,
Chad Ochocinco, saying he should come train with Sporting KC now that the NFL has locked the
players out. I'd avoided comment on the topic at the time because I figured it was just going to go
away with out anything so I really did not want to get on it.

It's six weeks since the close of the 2010-11 season, and Liverpool's already set to kick off
2011-12 with a preseason visit to Guangzhou to face Guangdong Sunray Cave.
I'd say my main critiques from what I've seen of Chad Ochocinco the soccer player are:#1 -His
overall footwork is all wrong, in pretty much any situation. It's worse than his touch, which would
probably soften significantly if he was out there 5 days a week for a few months or more.#2 - As to
the touch.

As the Union prepare for a derby with DC United, the Philly Soccer Page turned to DC assistant
Chad Ashton for his thoughts on his own team, the Union, and how a coaching staff can manage its
locker room chemistry.
Philly Soccer Page: One of the things DC Coach Ben Olsen said recently was that
Philadelphia's strong defense is really what separates these two teams.

Ashton, along with players Clyde Simms and Marc Burch will be making appearances at the Virginia
Youth Soccer Association Convention in Crystal City, Va. beginning tonight.
On Friday, January 21, Olsen will be at the VYSA Convention from 6:45 p.
I now am formulating the next great and powerful entertainment Top 5'er, probably to drop this
weekend. I won't divulge the precise topic, but will tip off that the impressive young lady at
right has easily made the honor roll...#1 - The Chad Ochocinco experiment has begun. His Bengals
coach is displeased, but the player says "pfft".
So today was the first day of Chad Ochocinco's 4 day trial with Sporting Kansas City, and the media
circus that was destined to follow was in tow. And after one day I think there's two words that
Wizards fans are going to be hearing a lot of over the rest of this week, humble pie. After his
first training session with the team, Ochocinco used the word humble in one form or another more
times than I think anyone would care to count.
We exchange three questions with Andy Edwards of The Daily Wiz in order to get some insider
prespective on Sporting KC as they come to town on Saturday. Andy's answer to my first question is
below and the other five questions in the exchange are after the break.

Another new edition of From the Byline to the Back Post to check out. If you're going on the buses
to Chicago tonight it'll give you some listening material. Then you can even ask me about it if you
want. This week Thad and I discuss the reserve league, Aurelien Collin, Chad Ochocinco, the game
against Chivas, me finally getting to see a win on the road, this week's game in Chicago, and the
Comets.
No Chad Ochocinco didn't earn a Major League Soccer contract, but he wasn't given his walking
papers either.
After his trial with Sporting Kansas City came to an end, Ochocinco was granted the opportunity
to continue working out with the club's reserve team as long as he'd like until the NFL lockout
situation is resolved.
After a five-day tryout proved that he was a good teammate who lacked enough soccer skills, NFL
star Chad Ochocinco got what he was hoping for Tuesday — a spot on the reserve team for Sporting
Kansas City.
Now he'll work out a couple of times a week with the MLS team's reserve squad, which is what he
was hoping for all along.
Just a quick note to tide me over til morning.
Toronto looked shaky at the start but found some style and looked more and more coherent as the
game wore on. I think JDG had one of his better games in a Toronto uniform tonight. The pairing
with Tony Tchani seems to be a promising one.
Chad did not score, but he came very close.
Logan Mankins and the New England Patriots have been haggling over a long-term contract for
years. On Wednesday, the two sides reportedly came to an agreement. There aren't any dollar figure
amounts yet but the deal is said to be for six season. Logan Mankins was set to make a little bit
more than $10 million this season.
Mrisho Ngassa Scores In World Cup Qualifying
The former trialist with the Sounders helped Tanzania to a 2-1 away win against Chad on the
11th. The second leg is the 15th. The winner advances to the second round a group stage with Ivory
Coast, Morocco and Gambia.
Ngassa played as a right winger in the Manchester United friendly and is expected back for 2012
training camp.
