Premier League team news - Barclays Premier League - ESPN SoccernetThe big news is that it would
take a "miracle" for Cesc to play for Arsenal at the weekend. For all those who have him at a
discount and were hoping to keep him through Arsenal's run of pretty easy matches, you're now at a
crossroads.

Good morning, happy Friday and all that. Lots to get through starting with team news ahead of
tomorrow's game against Hull.
Unusually Arsene's press conference took place yesterday. I don't know why. Perhaps they all
have to attend a recital at which Fran Merida is doing a solo today. It's the only possible
explanation I can think of.

By Walter Broeckx I have read somewhere over the internet that the pundits in England had a hard
night. I can understand that. How can you explain Arsenal beating Porto with 5 -0 when you have
been saying a whole season how bad we are. And then to realise we played without Cesc, Gallas and
Van Persie.

The media wasn't convinced and readied themselves for a caning, the fans were a little
apprehensive, there was no Cesc, we had never turned a first leg defeat around since General Custer
lost at Little Big Horn, the pressure was building.
Oh dear what a let down for the Arsenal knockers, we cruised it.

So many in the media say that we are a one man team, we are all about Cesc Fabregas and they
even suggest that without him we have little threat. Didn't they say the same when we had Thierry
Henry in our side?
Utter bollox I say we have a squad with players who can change a game. We have a manager who has
got us playing wonderful football.

Wenger accepts the loss of Arsenal's talisman - who has an outside chance of returning for the trip
to Hull on Saturday - is a big blow. However, the Gunners boss insists his side have the quality to
nevertheless secure their place in the quarter-finals by overturning a 2-1 deficit from the first
leg.

That's it then. Arsenal have officially turned the corner. In the same way that Eduardo's
injury, Stuart Parnaby's dive and William Gallas's teary outburst reflected the collapse of their
2007-08 title challenge, so Ramsey's injury, Danny Pugh's waving arms and Cesc Fabregas's penalty
will reflect Arsenal's glorious rampage to the title.

Yesterday, I was too distraught to write a match review. Even now I am quite peeved but there
were too many positives in the game and I think it deserves a proper mention even though the
horrendous tackle cast a gloomy shadowed all the bright moments.
The start of the game reminded me of our previous two visits to this stadium.

I know we've got a big game against Stoke later today and I'll get to that shortly but first I
hope you'll join me in raising a glass, or a cup of coffee at this early stage, to ... well ... me.
Today Arseblog reaches the grand old age of 8.

It can be tough being a young player at Arsenal. Thrust into the limelight at an earlier age
than those at rival clubs, they are subject to instantaneous judgement, to an often brutal degree.
Some thrive, able to cope with such a high pressure environment at a young age, maturing quickly
and gaining experience unavailable elsewhere.

I was just thinking to myself, imagine in an ideal world if we had no injuries then the line up
against Porto could be something like this:AlmuniaSagna Gallas Vermaelen Gibbs Song Cesc Diaby
Bendtner RVP Arshavin I couldn't see this side losing to last night's Porto side. Porto were there
for the taking in my opinion, they looked vulnerable at the back for most of the game,

Yeah, No more match reports here. In my opinion that wasn't a match worth watching in the first
place. Add to that the fact that I stayed up till 3 in the morning to see the game and have ended

I'm not normally one to hide behind excuses when the lads get beat. To be honest I find them all
incredibly boring. Every year we hear the same things such as our injuries hampered us, we've got
no money, the media are against us and the referees are anti arsenal. After so long I lose
interest in debating with these people because that's what footballs about.

So the line up was almost as expected. Fabianski and the expected back four. Denilson in the
midfield, with Cesc and Diaby. Then up top Rosicky and Nasri on the flanks of Bendtner. My first
thoughts are that we do not have enough pace in the attacking positions and that Denilson needs to
do more than he has done in many games of late.

Today's games went as expected. Lyon troubled Madrid while Milan didn't have enough to keep
Rooney out. Now I am hoping tomorrow's game won't throw up any surprises either.
We have some big names missing. Gallas, Song, Arshavin are not easy to replace. Is it a sign of
over confidence or is it our strength-in-depth that makes me expect a good result at the Estadio do

The Arsenal website doesn't have much to offer today except this piece Diaby has improved
tremendously. I must say I completely agree with that article. At the start of the season I didn't
think of the lanky Frenchman as anything more than a squad player (My bad! But can you blame me?)
Over the last few months an increasingly fit Diaby has impressed on many levels.

As a team, we need to be stronger. We can't hide behind people saying we are too young or we

Arsenal visit Stamford Bridge a week after our title challenge has supposedly been transformed
into a disaster. Many supporters have already decided that this game will result in another
humiliating defeat taking us out of the title fight and dumping us in one for third and fourth
place.
Given our recent record against the big teams and Drogba's record against us it's probably a
logical conclusion.

Good morning all and a happy Friday to you. This week seems to have really dragged, no midweek

All the focus now will be on Chelsea though. Arsene's press briefings will take place today, no

regardless of the questions he'll be asked today.

Arsenal 1-3 Man Utd. Or, Fergie 1-0 Wenger. United got their tactics spot-on, Arsenal
didn't.
This must have made very depressing viewing for all Gunners, especially as it was spookily
similar to last year's Champions League semi final at the Emirates, when United crushed their hosts

And so to the second of our run of four tough games, and arguably the biggest of the lot. Some
may argue that the trip to Stamford Bridge is the most critical game we have, but for me, our
history with United, and the boost we could get by defeating them, makes this one huge.
That isn't to say a win is essential.
