Brazilians Santos FC will participate in their first ever FIFA Club World Cup and are hoping to
take the title back to South America after a five year period of domination for European clubs.
Santos FC, who are based in Brazil's second city of São Paulo, will face the winner of the
quarter-final between Japanese champions Kashiwa Reysol and North and Central American CONCACAF
Champions League winners Monterrey CF on December 14th.
Paraguay's Superclásico took place this weekend with Olimpia and Cerro Porteño having to be
content with sharing the spoils following a 1-1 draw in the capital city of Asuncion on Sunday.
Record champions Olimpia may have amassed 38 league titles to date in their glory-laden history
but the last of those championships came eleven years ago which is far too long for a club of its
stature.

It has been a long road for Santos this year in the Copa
Libertadores. This was Santos' first campaign since 2008, when they exited at the quarter
final stage.
Club Nacional finally managed to get their hands on the Torneo Apertura following their
Matchday 22 win over Cerro Porteño.
Nacional were two points clear of record champions Olimpia before the final round of matches
began on Sunday. At the half-time break Nacional were drawing following a goalless first half
whilst Olimpia led against 3 de Febrero thanks to a 34th minute penalty from Juan Ferreyra.

On Tuesday night, Santos, from Brazil, and Cerro Porteño, from Paraguay, squared off in the second
leg of the Copa Libertadores semi-final. Tuesday's match resulted in an exciting 3-3 draw and
Santos advanced to the Copa Libertadores final on a 4-3 aggregate. Santos managed to go 3-0 in the
first half, but Cerro Porteño battled back in the second half scoring 3 goals of its own, but
could not find a fourth goal.

In the first round of games in Group 5 of the 2011 Copa Libertadores Paraguayan side Cerro Porteño
put on a magnificent display to crush Colo-Colo of Chile 5-2. One of the highlights of the game was
17 year old Argentine born forward Juan Manuel Iturbe's Copa Libertadores debut as a second half
substitute, he lived up to expectation hitting two goals.
