D.C. United put together one of its most comprehensive performances Thursday night at RFK

second game in a row, as the Black-and-Red put together back-to-back wins for the first time since
late July.

Well, color me a little surprised. Not only did Tommy run out a very strong team, but we actually
got the result we needed, hanging three on a tired Marathon side to push us to second in the group
(first tie-breaker in the group stage is...

United faces a near must-win tonight at RFK Stadium when it faces Honduran side CD Marathon in
its fourth CONCACAF Champions League match. After last week's win in Trinidad & Tobago over
Jabloteh, D.C. finds itself in third place in Group B, three points behind tonight's visitors. A
win for the Black-and-Red would draw the team even in the standings and put it in a position to
advance into the knockout stage of the tournament heading into the final two games of group

I'm giddy as a school girl! I leave for the match in about 3 hours. Since I live in podunk
Virginia, it will be a bit of a drive to get to DC. I've even made a sign that may or may not be
like the title of this post. If they let me bring it in, it will be across the field from the
camera on the left-ish side, near the corner flag.

Is it fair to say that CONCACAF referees just plain don't like us?
I honestly have no idea what happened when Santino got two yellow cards within a matter of about
three seconds, but boy, it sure seemed questionable. So, United is forced to play down a man - yet
again - for a good portion of the game and falls 4-2 to CD Marathon.

The team sat in well through the first half and absorbed a few breakthrough chances by Marathon.
It also looked as though the team missed out on a penalty call midway through the first half when
Luciano Emilio was taken down by the Marathon's goalkeeper. Then, in the second half the guys
seemed to gain a little control of the game and saw two decent opportunities for Boyzz Khumalo.

The bad news is that Santino Quaranta will not be dressing tonight. The 23-year old suffered
some pretty deep bruises on his ankle and shin Saturday night in LA and will be held out this
evening. Bummer.
The good news is that the guys are all feeling pretty positive and will be coming out in a
slightly more defensive-oriented posture tonight, running at type of 4-4-1-1.
