We all know the Collective Bargaining Agreement is coming close to it's end and the MLS Players Union and league front offices are set to battle it all out. Well today we got some rough news from the Sports Business Journal (subscription based link, sign up for a free trail if you haven't) that the players union is already talking strike if things don't improve.

With this winter quickly approaching now that we are in the fall season it seems only fitting to really start the discussion on what will certainly be the number one topic all off season in Major League Soccer, the CBA negotiations. The big one comes down to the great wage debate.

FIFPro (Fédération Internationale Des Associations de Footballeurs Professionels), the international players union, will lobby FIFA on behalf of MLS players, who maintain that the league's contract structure violates the rules of soccer's governing body.

This issue comes during the middle of the current CBA negotiations, as the players have consistently voiced their displeasure in recent months with Major League Soccer's non-guaranteed contracts, ability to terminate contracts, and lack of free-agency.

Let's face it folks, 2009 is just a couple weeks from finishing here. With that means 2010 and all its glory but even more important is the month ahead for MLS fans. Not only is it the SuperDraft month, a transfer window opening up, some international friendlies but the end of the current CBA.
