I wouldn't read too much into Robin van Persie being 'coy' about his contract situation at
Arsenal.
He is bound to be after all isn't he?
Robin's next contract, wherever that may be, is going to be the most important one he will sign in
his life. Well, except for his next mobile phone contract I suppose.
I have yet to see Arsenal put up a more pathetic, inept, and disjointed display of football than
seen this evening at the San Siro. It was not just bereft of the rudiments of the sport, it was
shorn of the most basic of English virtues, of spirit, of spine. The 8-2 lambasting at the hands of
Utd one can take because we had so many players out through suspensions and injuries.
The Arsenal and AC Milan teams that will take the field today will be much different ones than the
versions that matched up in an epic UEFA Champions League battle in 2008.
Both clubs are in a state of flux - only one player from Arsenal's starting XI in that 2008
match-up, Bacary Sagna, will be in Arsene Wenger's lineup this time.
What an exciting and challenging game we can anticipate tonight. A return to the scene of the
European recognition of Fabregas's genius (sorry GM!). That night is etched in the memory
alongside so many other astonishing and unexpected Arsenal victories win this and we may get a
repeat of the TH inspired win in the Bernabeu!
"Perhaps we gave our fans too much by winning the Double. Once you've eaten caviar, it
is difficult to go back to sausages."
-Arsene Wenger, after a draw against Middlesbrough, 1998.
There is always a certain impishness to Arsene Wenger's comments that draws people towards his
press conferences.
