While the cold and snow destroyed the Premier League schedule for this weekend, the other top
European leagues all played. This is a look at the results in Europe's top leagues this
weekend.
Italy
Instead of moving nine points clear at the top of Serie A, AC Milan had their lead whittled down to
three following a home loss to ARoma and last-gasp wins for Napoli and Lazio, who are second and
third respectively.
Napoli's current infatuation with Uruguayan super striker Edinson Cavani and Argentinean pocket
rocket Ezequiel Lavezzi is something of a reoccurring theme in a city obsessed with football and
it's South American imports. A look back through the history books of the Vesuviani demonstrates
the fact that the Vesuvani and it's supporters have always embraced players who have.
The Serie A is wide open. Milan are top, and Juventus have finally recovered from calcipoli,
sitting in third. Napoli's exciting young team containing Ezequiel Lavezzi and Marek Hamsik is
finally clicking and has them fourth, as well as sixth-placed Palermo's young South American
contingent of Javier Pastore, Edinson Cavani and Abel Hernandez.
BUCHAREST, Romania Liverpool FC edged into the round of 32 as Group K winners with a 1-1 draw at FC
Steaua Bucure?ti that kept them three points ahead of their closest challengers. Milan Jovanovi?'s
first European goal for the Reds after 19 minutes broke the deadlock but the Army Men battled back
with Éder [.
While it was a great Champions League group stage for the Italian sides, the Europa League group
stages are proving to be more difficult for the Italian sides in the Europa League. In fact, all of
the Italian sides have been eliminated except for Napoli, who might be able to pull off a good
result and qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament.
ROME, Italy — Christian Maggio scored deep into injury time to give Napoli a 1-0 victory at home
to Palermo at the San Paolo in Naples on Monday night. After a largely tame affair, Maggio pounced
30 seconds before the end of injury time to keep Napoli in third but now just six points behind

LIVERPOOL, England Top and bottom respectively of Group K at the start of the day, Liverpool FC and
FC Utrecht also finished it at opposite ends of the section following a goalless draw at Anfield.
Results a fortnight ago rubber-stamped Liverpool's place in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 and
ended Utrecht's hopes [.
While in the Champions League all Italian sides made it through to the knockout stages, there
was a fear that in the Europa League there would be no Serie A teams. Luckily, Napoli managed to
qualify with a 1-0 win over Steaua Bucharest, thanks to a very late goal by Cavani. And there was
more good news for Italian sides around the world, Inter Milan were victorious in their semi-final
of the World Club Cup, and they'll be playing African champions TP Mazembe in the final of the
tournament.
ROME, Italy — Lazio and Napoli closed the gap on leaders AC Milan to just three points with
victories Sunday but Juventus failed to keep pace as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Chievo. Lazio
edged out Udinese 3-2 in a thrilling match decided by Christian Zapata's own goal two minutes from
time. [..

The weather was the big story in Europe this weekend, with snow postponing matches in England,
France, and Italy. The Premier League was the hardest hit, losing all but two of its weekend
matches to the weather.
In the matches that actually were played, late goals were the story of the weekend.

A bit like a superior Andy Carroll, Ed Cavani continues to impress with his pace, power and
finishing ability. Here he rips Lecce's defence to shreds before unleashing hell. If you listen
closely, you can hear his agent smiling...
Cav's barnstormer won the game for Napoli in added time, to keep the Azzurri very much
in the title race.
The Uruguayan player Cavani scored a spectacular goal at the last minute vs. Lecce in Serie-A. The
goal came after another spectacular save by Napoli defence, a very nice exciting few minutes

Cavani scores an unbelievable goal in Naple's 1-0 win against Lecce last week-end.
Maracanazos are in awe in front of such goals!
Adam and Kevin discuss the final match day of 2010 from the SerieAWeekly skype studio covering all
the favorites from Benitez to Borriello, Cavani to Cassano, and AC Milan to AS Roma. This is not
only be the final episode for the 2010 calendar year, but also the final Minute+10 as the podcast
will be re-branding SerieAWeekly podcast in the new year.
Midway through the Serie A season Napoli sit proudly in second place only three points behind
leaders Milan. Who would have thought the Partenopei would have reached such heights after a fairly
quiet summer transfer campaign. The only high profile signing made by Napoli was Edinson Cavani and
with a few other additions to the squad it seemed likely Napoli would be challenging for the
European.
