The above picture was posted on Bigsoccer last night by a member of the Wizards staff. It's the new
rendering of the Wizards stadium out at the Legends. The overall design is fairly similar to
previous renderings we've seen, but there is one big change between the old renderings and this
one, and that's the roof.

Reports emanating from Israel (namely the Ma'ariv newspaper) are claiming that Barcelona's
historic shirt sponsorship deal with the Qatar Foundation is in jeopardy as the Arab organisation
have been accused of forging direct links with Islamic (and, for the record, Palestinian)
terrorist group Hamas.
A few seconds after the final whistle sounded in the United States' round of 16 loss to Ghana in
the World Cup, speculation began on the future of men's national team coach Bob Bradley.
OK, maybe not seconds. But not long after.
Since then, it's come out that USSF president Sunil Gulati is less than thrilled with the team's
finish in the World Cup, thus putting Bradley's job status in a bit of jeopardy.
It's been too long since I've done one of these infographics. And it's not like it's hard to devise
ways to graphically demonstrate Liverpool's dire season so far.
Through 20 league games, Liverpool's 14 points worse off than in comparable fixtures from last
season. 14 more points would put Liverpool at the top of the table by two points over Chelsea, 3
points ahead of United with a game in hand.
The U.S. national team and its fans are well aware of the cauldron that is Estadio Saprissa,
Costa Rica's former national soccer stadium and a location the U.S. national team never did win a
match in.
The next time the United States plays Costa Rica, it will face the Ticos at a brand-new
multi-million dollar facility set for completion in March of 2011.

Thanks to a poster on Bigsoccer, we have more information on the Wizards stadium site out at the
Legends. The Unified Government held a public hearing on the stadium plan and have released some
new information about the site. In the first document you get to see some side views of what the
stadium will look like and just how dramatic the raise in the roof will be on one side of the
stadium.
I was able to sneak into the Stadium Summit that was held prior to the game with DC last Saturday.
You can get Mike's and David Streeter's take but I wanted to share a couple photos and
observations...This is taken from the North/Cauldron end looking towards the South. That is where
we will be watching the Wizards play in the future.
The Hillcrest Syndicate, one group that makes up the loud-and-crazy Cauldron on game days, is
taking pre-orders for pink Breast Cancer Awareness scarves. To purchase your scarf, visit
http://www.hillcrestsyndicate.com/. They cost $25, and all proceeds will be donated to a
breast-cancer-supporting community organization.
Next year is going to be a big year for the Wizards with all that appears set to happen next year
mainly dealing with the new stadium. There are three big things that circle around the stadium, the
stadium itself, the potential rebranding, and the 2011 schedule. First, the stadium itself. It
continues to go up at a rapid pace, and today the Wizards made live a second webcam, this one
inside the stadium.
I have my doubts, of course. I think most of us around here do. After all, a couple of good
showings on the bounce does not a season make, and when one steps back to view things as a whole
the overall picture remains a somewhat less than encouraging one. Not to mention that even in this
recent string of good results there have been a number of less than stellar moments.

QPR win 2-0 at Crystal Palace and move up to 51 points with four games remaining.
Photo courtesy of Weston White. We're the first team to make LA drop points, and the first
team to shut them out. They had 17 fouls to our 4. A win was within reach, but tonight wasn't the
night. Thanks to all the fans who came out, and thanks to all the fans who watched at home on KCWE
29. The Cauldron was full and loud, just like we like it.
A little over the first month of the season has taken place at this point, and it's time for the
first player of the month award. The Wizards went 2-2-1 in all competitions in March and April,
beating DC and Colorado, while drawing with LA, and losing to Colorado and Seattle. Unlike a few
months last year, there are plenty of players to choose from this month on both sides of the ball.
So, the big day is finally here. Petr Cech reckons we have three cup finals on our hands and I
could not agree more. But almost everyone knows that today's game against Liverpool will all but
decide the title. Chelsea win and they have one hand, one foot and half an intestine firmly planted
on the title.

The nation's disaffection with England's inability to keep possession in the aftermath of
England's World Cup warm-up match with Mexico on Monday shrouded what should have been a day of
high praise for full back Glen Johnson. The Liverpool man scored a superb goal to give England a
3-1 victory displaying a skill, tenacity and two-footedness that were he Brazilian, would have had
the world drooling.
Fully refreshed from his recent holiday, Chris Hughton today returned to work in the cauldron that
is Newcastle United, and was promptly put on the spot by the local press. It seems that although
Hughton has been away from his office, work has still been ongoing to make sure we have a squad
capable of competing [.

A momentous victory for Ghana set the ball rolling for the African nations at the Fifa World
Cup.
The Loftus Versfeld Stadium was a booming cauldron of noise as Ghana topped the group, beating
the strong Serbs 1-0.
The first half was full of fast paced football, but didn't produce any clear cut
opportunities.
Ever since London won the bid for the 2012 Olympics, opening ceremonies have become of
significant importance to us Brits, even more so after Beijing's breathtaking opening to the 2008
games. We are in the middle of a recession, all we can currently provide is Fatima Whitbread and
Daley Thompson standing on top of an open top London Bus eagerly waving a solitary sparkler.
The US defense was up to the task to deal with England, and Bob Bradley's gameplan was up the
task.
Brian Straus writes of the pride instilled in the US team to grind out a solid defensive

It was the Americans' ability to stand toe-to-toe with the English in that high-intensity
cauldron that was key to the result.

For those of you living under a rock, the name in the title does not refer to the newest world
in James Cameron's sequel to Avatar. Bursaspor is a Turkish club, and a term which must have shot
up on the Google statistics over the past two days ever since they got drawn with us in the
Champions League group stages.
Last week the Wizards sent out season ticket renewal information to their existing season ticket
holder base. Needless to say I've heard from a few fans who were surprised at how much the ticket
prices went up. While most of the stadium seats don't have a real comparison at the Wizards current
stadium in CAB, most fans outside the Cauldron are seeing a big increase in their season ticket
price.
The University of Seville uses the same building where the former Royal Tobacco Factory was
housed, and this factory was the inspiration for the opera Carmen.
Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán houses the match of the weekend, although the LFP did not grant
the match with a glamorous time, as Sevilla hosts Atlético Madrid in a match where both teams will
likely fight for a Champions League spot by the end of the season.
With the season winding down, we wanted to take some time to thank La Barra KC and the La Barra KC
sponsors for their support this year. As many of you know, La Barra is a group of die-hard soccer
supporting Hispanic people from Kansas City who are big fans of the Wizards, their local team. They
sit in/near the Cauldron and help keep the noise at a maximum throughout each match.

Bayern Munich travel to Romania to take on CFR Cluj, in the reverse fixture of a match they were
lucky to escape with three points from back in Bavaria. Own-goals were key back in Germany, but
Bayern Munich will not want to count on lightning to strike twice for them tomorrow night.
Okay, my lead-in to this column is a pat-on-the-backer, but that's okay for two reasons:
Um, not left-footed guys...
(1) I called myself out in the comment section early this week for labeling Maicon the best
player in the world over the summer. (To be fair though, while roasted by Gareth Bale this week,
Maicon was at the mercy of a horrible scheme by Inter manager Rafa Benitez)
(2) I'll toss out this nugget to you: I once labeled Landon Donovan freaking Landon Donovan left
footed on this publication.
I've been a fan of the Kansas City Wiz(ards)/Sporting KC since 1996, and I don't think any player
move has affected me as much as Jimmy Conrad leaving to go to Chivas yesterday in the MLS Re-Entry
draft. I knew it was coming just from the way things seemed to be going in the 2010 season. It
started with Conrad losing the captain's armband and just seemed to continue from there.
South East Asia is blessed with two promising goalkeepers, Kawin Thammasatchanan (Muang Thong
United) and Megia Kurnia (Arema). Neither has made an impact on the AFF Cup for different reasons.
Kawin was forced to pull out through injury while Megia plays second fiddle to Markus Horison in
the Indonesia goal.
