TAMPA, Fla.-- Sacha Kljestan and Marvell Wynne have been given several chances to impress with
the U.S. national team over the past year, but their inability to make the most of those
opportunities likely means they will both be playing for their World Cup lives when the U.
The political situation in Honduras right now is, shall we say, messy. But the football team has
probably never been better. Honduran players are gaining respect in leagues like Serie A and the
English Premier League, and in they have a Colombian coach who seems to know his business.
Yet probably because Honduras hasn't qualified for a World Cup since 1982, they seem to be the
underdogs in World Cup 2010 Group H, where they'll face Spain, Switzerland and Chile.

With an enviable cast of characters that ply their trade throughout Europe's top clubs, it's
easy to see why Spain is considered one of the favorites to lift the World Cup trophy this summer.
Having exorcised some of its demons and silenced critics by winning the European Championship two
years ago, Spain is still riding high and playing some of the best soccer on the planet.

CONCACAF's third participant Honduras kicks off their World Cup adventure this morning in a
vital Group H match against Chile that may determine who advances to the second round behind group
favorite Spain. The match is set to take place at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit(7:30 a.
Roger Espinoza hadn't started any of Honduras' friendlies leading up to the World Cup, but today
when the starting 11 was named for Honduras' World Cup opener against Chile, there was Espinoza's
name, in the Honduran midfield. Not only did Espinoza get the start, but he went the full 90
minutes for Los Catrachos in their 1-0 loss to Chile in their Group H opener in Mbombela Stadium.

Spain will be hoping for a much better result in their second Group H game against Honduras. The
destination this time is Johannesburg, and the Ellis Park Stadium. Both teams will be entering the
game off the back of 1-0 defeats, where Honduras lost to Chile and the Spanish lost to Switzerland
in one of the biggest World Cup shocks so far.
Spain looks to play catch up in Group H when they face Honduras in Monday's late game (ESPN,
ESPN3.com, 2:30 p.m.) at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.
A loss by La Furia Roja today would end any hopes of advancing to the knockout stages in a
tournament that they entered as heavy favorites.
The Spanish armada finally fired its first salvo at their World Cup rivals with a 2-0 win over
Honduras. Just like against Switzerland, La Furia Roja dominated the match from start to finish,
but the only difference this time round was that there was an end product. David Villa opened his
quest for the Golden Boot with two goals.

The one thing that this World Cup has thrown up is that no team can take themselves for granted,
no matter how strong they appear on paper or how impeccable their lineage. FIFA rankings count for
very little.

of 16.
Chile and Spain go head to head today.
For Spain it is a must win situation. Only top of the group will do because even if they qualify
as runners up, they could meet Brazil if they win or draw Portugal in their match today. It is
between a rock and a hard place.
A win with their potent attack firing on all cylinders and putting away those numerous chances
will be a huge confidence booster no matter who they face in the group of 16.

The Honduran national team is trying to do everything it can to make sure that it doesn't lose
teen phenom Andy Najar.
In a Honduran publication, U-20 head coach Javier Padilla announced that he will tryand bring
Najar into the Honduras set up for the U-20 World Cup.
Roger Espinoza started tonight for Honduras in their match tonight against Panama, unfortunately
the game did not go their way. Honduras lost 2-0 to their Central American rivals. Espinoza played
in the back for Los Catrachos in the game.
