MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - When U.S. men's national team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann revealed his
starting lineup to his players, Danny Williams was in shock.
Williams, the 22-year-old son of an American serviceman and German mother, was included in the
starting XI that would take on Honduras at Sun Life Stadium on Saturday night, something that may
not have even seemed possible just a month ago.

Klinsmann can thank the familiar ones for his first victory as U.S. head coach.
The Americans won their first game in the Klinsmann era on Saturday night, beating Honduras 1-0

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - After four training sessions in two days, the U.S. men's national team
returned the practice field on a cool Thursday evening finally able to do one thing: Focus on
Honduras.
Having been recovering from weekend games and with their upcoming friendly against the Catrachos
getting closer, the Americans went through a 90-minute session in which every player aside from
Nick Rimando (who is not yet in camp) participated.

Honduras was already going to be without a number of regulars for its friendly against the
United States on Saturday, but a recent development means that Los Catrachos will be even more
shorthanded than previously thought.
Stoke City defensive midfielder Wilson Palacios has had to withdraw from Honduras' roster due to
a knee injury, according to reports from Honduras, and he won't take on the U.
The October international fixture dates appear to be filling up on the U.S. men's national
team's calendar.
After reports emanated from Ecuador that stated the United States will play the South American
team in Connecticut on Oct. 11, news has surfaced that the United States will host Honduras on
Oct.

With the Gold Cup starting Sunday with Costa Rica v. Cuba and Mexico v. El Salvador it's time to
take a look at the groups and peek at who are in line to earn the right to get to the knockout
stages.
While the Gold Cup has traditionally been a battle between Mexico and the United States the
coming edition has the best chance to yield a different finalist in quite some time. Honduras,
Costa Rica, Canada and Jamaica are all legitimate threats in the tournament and are capable of
beating either favorite in a knockout stage game.

Honduras claimed its third Central American title, defeating a 10-man Costa Rica side, 2-1, in
Panama City. Los Catrachos took an early lead through a rifled finish from close range by Walter
Martinez in the 8th minute, and Emil Martinez added a second off a free kick in the 53rd.
