As we've reported here before, it appears USA and Colorado Rapids midfielder Pablo Mastroeni is set
for a move to Europe in January, the only question is where.
While a handful of Italian clubs (such as Cagliari, Catania, and Palermo) have been whispered to
have interest, LFV friend Nick Thomas is reporting that interest is also coming from Spain's Real
Betis and Malaga.
OK folks, now that Michael Bradley has found a new home at Borussia Monchengladbach, we still have
12 hours before we know if Oguchi Onyewu is going to PSG, Espanyol, Lazio, Bologna, or someplace
England. The Italian deadline is at 6PM (12 PM EDT) so if its a Serie A move, expect to know
earlier in the day.
Inter boss Jose Mourinho is absolutely enraged over the international commitments of his South
American players and, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, is refusing to play any of them in the

On Saturday Juninho showed why he is the master of the freekick after bringing Lyon single-handedly
back into this one, with a clinical display of scoring from the deadball situation. While
waiting for Inter - Catania to start I decided to turn the dial to TV5
and have a look-see of French Ligue One with Lyon vs.
For some reason whenever Serie A plays during the week I always feel like it isn't the same. I
love the tradition of Serie A Sundays and Serie A on Wednesday just feels strange. But it's still
Serie A, so I could care less because I love calcio. Giornata 4 was another great round of calcio:
Inter took sole lead of the Serie A table after getting a result vs a tough Lecce side thanks to
Julio Cruz, Juventus drew Catania at home and wasted many chances to get all 3 points, Milan keeps
bouncing back after a win in Reggio Calabria, Roma continues to struggle after losing away to
Genoa, and Fiorentina were outclassed by Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.

The 2008/2009 Serie A season has finally kicked off, and what a weekend it was. There were so
many interesting games and results. For the first time since 1984, none of the big teams have full
points after the first game. Hopefully this is a sign that this season will be very exciting and
interesting.

Italian Serie A : Inter Milan 2-1 Catania Highlights 13.09.08
In real time it didn't appear Sulley Muntari had even hit Giacomo Tedesco's face, which does appear
to be the case from this replay. But still, it was a tap and Tedesco hammed it up for the cameras
like there was no tomorrow (I'm partial to the second angle they show). Did a good job, [...]
I'll surprise a few by saying this, but this Inter team reminds me a lot of the late 90's Juventus.
Not so much with regards to playing style, but with respect to a few other factors. For instance
even when their match performance is far from extraordinary, the Nerazzurri manage to rake in 3

The third giornata of Serie A had less drama and surprises then the last two weeks, but it was
interesting and exciting nonetheless. All the big teams won (including Milan for the first time):
Inter swept aside Torino, Juventus won a tricky away game vs. Cagliari, Roma ended their
"crisis" by soundly defeating Reggina 3-0, Milan finally won with a 4-1 victory over
Lazio, and Fiorentina keep chugging along (with Gila scoring goals) with a win vs.

When looking at the schedule of the 5th Giornata, all eyes had to be on Milan-Inter. The Derby
was important not only for fans of those teams but for fans of other teams, as everyone had to hope
Inter were stopped. And they were stopped, as the Rossoneri prevailed with a thunderous header from
Ronaldinho, who scored his first goal in a Milan jersey.

to scrape past Catania at the San Siro and Palermo defeat Roma 3 - 1.
Round-Up
Giornata 2 was another exciting week of Italian calcio. Inter and Juventus got back on track
with wins, but Roma, Milan, and Fiorentina fell back a step with losses. Lazio continues to impress
(Mauro Zarate especially) and Atalanta show they are a solid side. Cagliari still finds itself
without any points (like Milan) and Massimiliano Allegri looks set to be on Cellino's chopping
block.

vincere i campionati.
cammino in campionato bruscamente interrotto a Genova.
Milano.
