Calcio, Under 21: Italia ko con l'Ungheria.

Azzurrini lose to Hungary, qualification in doubt, worst Italy U-21 team of all time?

The Offside: Italy 13 November @ 12:18 PM EST

The Italy U-21's continued their very disappointing qualifying campaign with another loss, this time away to Hungary. The Azzurrini needed a win to get back on track, but now qualification is getting more and more difficult. The Hungarians won 2-0, with goals coming from Nemeth and Koman (both players played on the Hungarian side that knocked the Italy U-20's out of the U-20 World Cup last month).

Calcio, Casiraghi rilancia.

Casiraghi signs contract extension and remains U-21 manager until 2011

The Offside: Italy 30 June @ 09:40 AM EST

After Italy's elimination for the U-21 Championship last Friday, Gigi Casiraghi was unsure about his future. He said that he would let the night pass and consider his options. The media were expecting that Casiraghi would decide to leave after 3 years at the helm and go on to newer pastures.

Europei Under 21: Casiraghi si gioca tutto.

Rosicky back and Rugby at the Emirates?

Gunners Today 14 May @ 02:20 PM EST
No, I'm not talking about a change of playing style at the Emirates from Arsenal. I'm talking about the sport rugby. Which could have a game or two played at the Emirates. Great!!
It surely is an ambitious plan, I would in fact say it is extremely brave. Reading about it today it seems that access and advertising could make this venture impossible. Click to continue reading...

Italy 2-3 Belgium: Azzurrini Say Goodbye to Beijing… (OLYMPICS 2008)

mCalcio 16 August @ 01:08 PM EST
Italy 2-3 Belgium: the Azzurrini's Olympic adventure ends in the Quarter-Finals. And it's such a shame too, because the gold medal (which talent-wise was well within the Azzurrini's reach, also because Brazil/Argentina were on the opposite side of the table) will remain a mirage for Casiraghi's boys. Olimpic Walkover - Honduras Beaten 3-0

Scuola Calcio 08 August @ 10:33 AM EST
Casiraghi's Under-23 side start the Games with an easy win, thanks to a wonderful goal from Giovinco and penalties from Rossi and Acquafresca. The Central American side missed a chance from the spot: Pavon sent his penalty over the bar. QINHUANGDAO (China) 7 August 2008 - Italy dominated the game with three goals of which two were penalties (though the second was rather generous) and had at least another three clear-cut chances. Daily Calcio News and Notes: 7/31/08

The Offside: Italy 31 July @ 09:18 AM EST

Here's what I scrounged around for today:

-Milan striker Marco Borriello has been operated on and will now start his recovery. Reports are he will be out for around 2 months. (could be less if he puts a lot of hard work into the recovery process.)

-Pierluigi Casiraghi is predicting a big Olympic performance from Lazio striker Tommaso Rocchi.

Azzurrini advance to final in Toulon, Mancini out at Inter?, Barzagli speaking German?, and other news from today

The Offside: Italy 27 May @ 05:05 PM EST

Today, the Italian Olympic team advanced to the Toulon International Tournament Final, defeating Japan 5-4 on penalty kicks in the semi-final. The Japanese frustrated the Azzurrini for 90 minutes, and Casiraghi's side dominated, but couldn't finish chances. Italy looked dangerous when the ball fell to the feet of Sebastian Giovinco (who should be voted best player of the tournament), but he squandered chances and chances he created were squandered by other players.

Donadoni “preliminary roster” supposedly found

The Offside: Italy 13 May @ 10:07 AM EST

For the past few days, many newspapers have been making predictions about what Roberto Donadoni's final roster for Euro 2008 will look like. These rosters are purely speculation and shouldn't be trusted at all. Although yesterday, the newspaper Informazione reported that television channel Antenna 3, a television station based in Lombardia, "discovered" Donadoni's real preliminary roster of 29 players.
