Arsenal 2 Wigan 0
I could moan about Carlos Vela's failure to take numerous chances in the first half. I could
equally moan about Theo Walcott's woeful finishing and poor crossing in the second half.
But that would be missing the point. In a sense, the Wigan match was exactly the match we've been
waiting for all season - a 2-0 victory, where the opposition didn't create anything and it was just
a solid victory.

I feel I should issue a prior warning that this one comes by way of Goal.com, so anyone
who finds their particular strain of blanket, 'see what sticks' football coverage a little rich is
advised to get out while they still can.
Anyway, the site are reporting this afternoon that the Bundesliga's joint-top scorer, Freiberg's
£10 million-rated Senegalese striker Papiss Demba Cisse, is angling for an
'interesting' January move to Arsenal having already spurned the advances of Fulham in his quest to
join one of the Premier League's London-based Champions League contingent.
Did well to get into spaces but no end product
As snow descended on the Grove, Arsenal were faced with a chance to get another step closer to a
trophy, albeit the Carling Cup. Our first home game of the competition put us up against Wigan with
the ticket to the last four being the prize of the match.

It was absolutely freezing last night, but at a tenner for my ticket it would have been rude not
too. First of all I would like to thank the company I had last night as always the legend that is
Arsenal TV Online's Akhil and Steve were on top form and we tried our very best to liven up the
graveyard that is Block 1.
By 1970's GoonerMedia reports in Mexico have shed more light in the mooted move of Carlos Vela away
from Arsenal in the January transfer window. He is set to join Real Saragoza in Spain who are
currently managed by ex Mexico national side manager Javier Aguirre. Aguirre knows Vela's abilities
very well selecting him in Mexico's World Cup squad.
Last weekend I had a chat with a source and received some very interesting information, I wrote
about some of this just the other day and thought I would leave the last bit until later on in the
week. The plan was to write about the information yesterday but there was just not enough time with
a deadline for some other work due earlier on today.
Carlos Vela's agent Eduardo Hernández denied that his client wants to leave Arsenal but confessed
the Mexican wants more minutes just like any other player. The agent is quoted as saying by
mediotiempo.com how no offers ...

With Robin Van Persie coming back to full fitness after coming back from injury, the competition
for the starting striker is hotter than ever.
The way that Wenger plays, currently a 4-3-3, usually means that there is room for one striker
in the starting line-up.
Morning all,
hope your Christmas day went well. I am still overloaded with food and with Dinner II The
Leftovers taking place later on I don't see this changing in any way. Also, compared with the
rather chilly -11 it was this time yesterday morning it's now a sweltering +2. Hopefully the
temperature will continue to rise because I am totally fed up with the snow and ice at this
stage.
