Burrito live in South Florida and he love it! Miami is a city that attracts millions. After New
York and Los Angeles we can say it is the coolest city to be at. Warm weather, hot womens, what
more can you ask for? ... And Soccer stars are no different, they come and vacation here all the
time and Burrito sure most of them would love to live and play here in Southern Florida.
Yeah, so our boys and the visiting Spawns of Satan cancelled each other out, playing to a
lackluster (to put very mildly) 0-0 draw. While we certainly had much fun, as we always do, I feel
it was an opportunity lost. First, we dropped two points to a team in the midst of a suck-ass
season.
When it comes to MLS playoffs and the tricky business of postseason design, every structure falls
into one of two categories: "imperfect" or "even more imperfect." So it is with the new format
being finalized. Commissioner Don Garber and the league's board of directors are adjusting the
postseason structure -- the deciders just haven't quite decided yet on the final tweaks.

Let the record state that Romania won 1-0 with a goal by Adrian Ilie.
In amongst the razzamatazz of the 1994 World Cup, which kicked off with Diana Ross putting a
penalty kick wide of the goal during the opening ceremony and finished with Roberto Baggio putting
one over in a penalty shoot-out that seemed pre-ordained to follow a desperately bad final between
Italy and Brazil, the darkest of football's dark hearts showed its face.
Zamorano, Carlos Valderrama, Alex Aguinaga, Rafael Dudamel y Gabriel
Batistuta!
Here's how the voting has gone for the National Soccer Hall of Fame for the last seven years
(all I have are the top tens - my man Jack Huckel, late of the Hall, may have the
complete lists, but whether he'll ever share them, I don't know). Those players who were elected
are in bold.

Colombian crazykeeper* Rene Higuita bid the football world adios last night with a star studded
testimonial game, featuring the likes of Carlos Valderrama, Faustino Asprilla, Leonel Alvarez,
Oscar Cordoba, Mauricio Serna and Victor Aristizabal. The 43 year old made a farewell speech, and
then showcased his favourite tricks as a team of '90s era Atletico Nacional [.
With J Hutcherson -- In today's edition, we look at things that wouldn't be on the first slide in a
hypothetical meeting on MLS issues for 2010, but need consideration. What Colorado Wants: If you're
going to tag any established MLS team with an identity problem, it's the Colorado Rapids. There was
a time when the Rapids meant Carlos Valderrama, Marcelo Balboa, Chris Henderson, and Pablo
Mastroeni.
It's still fresh in our memory banks of what happened to Preston Burpo on a challenge with New
York Red Bulls midfielder Dane Richards. That terrible challenge when both men were at the ball at
the same time & after the clearance there was a snap. That was a pure accidental moment right off
the bat.
One of these two players - seen here at the World Cup - will take the field in Carson Saturday
in a charity game. Sadly, it's not the little fella on the right (AP Photo).
Who knew?
Certainly no one in the English language soccer press since a press release about Saturday's
charity game featuring international stars past and present - that's in just five days time - only
went out today and as near as I can tell was not sent to anyone remotely connected with the sport
(I received mine from a colleague who covers Redondo Beach.
The United States takes on the Colombian Tuesday in perhaps the least anticipated game since an
El Salvador team showed up without focus and perhaps hungover against the States' "B" team back in
February.
Can't do a Colombia preview and not show a picture of Carlos Valderrama...oh and that's Tom
Dooley next to him on the day of the 1994 World Cup win for the States.
A great player whose life was tragically cut short
A couple of months ago, I watched "The Two Escobars", ESPN's 30 for 30 documentary on the
lives of Colombian soccer player Andres Escobar and Drug Cartel leader Pablo Escobar. It was
recommend to me by a non soccer fan as one of the best documentaries he has ever seen.
