So Carlos Tevez has taken a step towards sartorial respectability with a new haircut. No. He still
doesn't really do it for us, either. But it's a start. Image via mcfc.co.uk
Chelsea blew a chance to grab the Premier League by the scruff of the neck yesterday losing at
Eastlands for two reasons. Firstly, Manchester City defended really well and made life difficult
for Chelsea and secondly, Chelsea lacked the cutting edge we have been so used to seeing this
season.
Shh, don't tell Jonathan Wilson, Zonal Marking or the trio of Richard Farley, Kartik Krisnaiyer
or Laurence McKenna, but I believe that formations are sometimes overrated.
In most matches, they have a massive impact on how teams play and how they match up against each
other. But in certain circumstances you may as well throw the formations out the window.
This week's results see both a shack-up in top-side performance or lack thereof and in the
players in The Team of the Week. Numerous players are making their debut in this glorious
and highly prestigious squad. Despite Arsenal's loss, a player from their said made the cut, while
numerous other from clubs from the bottom-half of the table are included or fell just short of the
mark.
Two of the world's most renowned offenses will face-off in a friendly tomorrow Tuesday September
7th in Argentina. Argentine scoring sensation Lionel Messi will battle against many of his beloved
Barcelona teammates as his national side face this summer's first time World Cup champions of La
Furia Roja.
Argentina take on Spain in just possibly the football world's most prestigious fixture of the day
on Tuesday, at 5pm local time. The match is being screened live on ITV4 in the UK, and on state TV
in Argentina, but ... Continue reading →
The stakes might have been minimal, and the lineups might not have been at completely full strength
for both sides, but Argentina showed that there's a different way to defeat Spain other than by
playing ultimate defense.
Argentina put on an impressive attacking display, and received some assistance from Spain keeper
Pepe Reina in the process, defeating the defending World Cup champions in Buenos Aires, 4-1, in an

It was gut wrenching to see Antonio Valencia sustain that horrific injury on Tuesday night against
Rangers, not just from a literal visual point of view, but because of the knowledge that the

Word is that Shay Given is now a target of Arsenal!
Given has been displaced as City's number one by Joe Hart this season and has not featured in
any of the club's eight fixtures.
Speaking after City's 2-0 win at Wigan, Mancini said: "I told him that he can stay but I respect
his decision and if he wants to leave he can.
After another week of second-rate defending it's really no surprise to see that only three
defenders made this week's Team of the Week. It should also not be a surprise to see
certain strikers on the list following their contributions. What may be a surprise is that
this is the first time some of these top-class players have featured in this JBM
segment.
Week 5 offered up some tasty results, others fairly mundane and some quite boring, while the
midweek League Cup matches left some supporters surprised, some downtrodden and others
maybe even suicidal. Week 6 promises to at least get the weekend's fixtures started off right as
Manchester City welcome Chelsea to The City of Manchester Stadium.
In the build-up to their early afternoon clash, Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini conceded
the Premier League title to the visiting Chelsea.
Although a lot of Mancini's frustration was directed towards the injuries, particularly to his
defensive unit, his comments also expressed a legitimate respect for the way Carlo Ancelotti's
Blues entered the fixture in incredibly dominant form.
In the sixth round of fixtures in this Barclays Premier League season, things took quite a
shocking turn. Saturday's theme appeared to be upsets as the underdogs hit back at the expense of
their significantly more fancied counterparts.
The day's action began at Eastlands where Carlos Tevez inspired Manchester City to pick up a 1-0
win over defending champions Chelsea.
Watching Real Madrid These Days Feels like this...So here I am on my lunchbreak at
work trying to figure out what to say about what happened to my beloved Real Madrid last Saturday
Night. It was weekend of ‘upsets' and frustrations. .Saturday night at the Ong House's TV started
at 7:40pm to take in Chelsea vs.
For archival purposes. Deep into the archives for this one.
This round of Premier League fixtures is the first since December 13-14 of 2008 that each of the
so-called "Big Four" – Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United – all failed to win
their match.
Manchester City 1-0 Chelsea: This was the first match of the weekend and it set
the tone for what was to be a very interesting series of fixtures in the Premiership.
The sale of Robinho has marked the end of an era for Manchester City. The Brazilian arrived with
high expectations of taking City to the next level and in a strange way he has sort lived up to the
expectations.
City fans will look back fondly to the day of Robinho's arrival.

Liverpool's Pepe Reina has vowed to bounce back from his goalkeeping blunder which helped Argentina
defeat Spain 4-1 in an international friendly in Buenos Aires.
Reina, who was making a rare international start in place of rested captain Iker Casillas, slipped
while attempting to deal with a straightforward back pass and was unable to prevent Carlos Tevez
from swooping to score Argentina's third goal.
The stakes might have been minimal, and the lineups might not have been at completely full strength
for both sides, but Argentina showed that there's a different way to defeat Spain other than by

2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2008 champions Spain were humbled 4-1 by Argentina in Buenos
Aires yesterday in an international friendly. Lionel Messi (10′), Gonzalo Higuain (13′) and
Carlos Tevez (34′) scored in the first half for the hosts with stand-in Spanish goalkeper Pepe
Reina looking disheveled at times.

Well you at least have to credit their timing to lose.
Spain lost for the first time since the World Cup ended in humiliating fashion to a hungrier
Argentina squad. The final score of the match was 4-1 in favor of Maradona's former side and La
Furia Roja experienced their first loss since that shocking 1-0 defeat to Switzerland in their
debut match of the World Cup.

The start of Mario Balotelli's Manchester City career has sputtered to a halt, as the club
announced that the Italian striker would have to undergo surgery and miss another month of
action.
Over the recent months, Carlos Tevez has thrown out retirement claims for certain situations.
Before the World Cup he claimed that if Argentina won he would find it hard to motivate
himself.
Well today, at the age of 26 he's claiming that he might be too old for the next World Cup. I'm not
sure I buy what Tevez is selling, this could be a little tongue in cheek, and having a laugh at
the expense of the press.
Manchester City captain has once again reiterated that he is feeling tired with life in
football, and although he is only 26 years old he is already considering his future. Speculation
has run rampant about his international future, and Tevez has finally responded.
"I'm considering my future.
Having taken slightly longer than planned to get around to writing this post, here I am with
something a bit more analytical (I hope) on the Argentina vs Spain friendly from Tuesday afternoon.
It was the world champions' first defeat ... Continue reading →
I haven't written much recently because the ITS team went on holiday and now I am
training for the Great North Run, which is on Sunday. But that obviously hasn't stopped me watching
football, so here is a few things I just wanted to get off my chest from what I've seen
recently...
Well the first thing isn't really a football observation but more a showbiz one.

By process of elimination, the AP have deduced that Manchester City will be without
both Emmanuel Adebayor and Joleon Lescott for their opening
Europa League game with Red Bull Salzburg tomorrow as neither player was present at Manchester
Airport this morning as City's 20-man squad departed for Austria.

Goodbye hairband! New Manchester City captain Carlos Tevez takes his duties very seriously. So
seriously, in fact, that he has decided to cut his flowing locks for a more sensible hairdo. Gone
is the hairband and tuck-it-behind-your-ears hair. Carlitos' new look is shorter, sharper and not
at all dissimilar to Roberto Mancini's new haircut.

David Silva celebrates his first City goal with a newly-shorn Carlos Tevez
Manchester City got their Europa League campaign off to a winning start last night, with a
routine win over an unadventurous Red Bull Salzburg side that, with the exception of a brief spell
of dominance at the end of the first half, failed to assert themselves in the tie.
