After Carlos Tevez signed for Manchester City the club bizarrely opted to put a 'Welcome to
Manchester' poster up in town as a dig to Manchester United fans. It was a strange move for a
football club to hire a London design agency and fork out loads of money just so they could wind up
opposing fans.

£50 million dump. Here's the round up...
Rumour No. 1: Manchester City are preparing to jettison £50 million worth of
players in the summer as manager Roberto Mancini begins a total rebuild of his squad.
Emmanuel Adebayor, Wayne Bridge, Shaun
Wright-Phillips and Stephen Ireland will all face the boot at Eastlands,
and the Italian boss is planning to kick start his overhaul with a £50 million bid for Liverpool
striker Fernando Torres.
It's safe to say that before the current season got underway, no one would have anticipated
this. In an unusually straight-forward statement made by a dejected Sir Alex Ferguson, it was
confirmed that Wayne Rooney, fondly and widely considered to be the "heart and soul" of Manchester
United, was intent on leaving the club.
Cristiano Ronaldo is top of the rich list with a staggering £11.3million salary alone, that's
not to mention sponsorship deals and bonuses.
Surprisingly enough, Manchester Cities mercenary, sorry forward Emmanuel Adebayor is currently
the Premier League highest played player with a salary of well over £7.
He's been a superb fantasy footie selection this year as well as Manchester City's number one
player on their quest for Champions League football, but it looks like Carlos Tevez is set to leave
City in the summer after a falling out with manager Roberto Mancini.
The 26 year old Argentine is in the prime of his career and has already scored 29 goals for
Manchester City this season, but it has been reported that the scar-faced striker does not
appreciate Mancini's training methods and is looking for a move.
Manchester City's Carlos Tevez has branded Manchester United's Gary Neville a "boot-licker" and a
"moron" in explaining his goal celebration in Tuesday's Carling Cup semi-final Former Manchester
United striker Tevez gestured and cupped his ears towards the United bench after scoring twice in
Manchester City's 2-1 derby win.
This gameweek it is doubletime for Manchester City, Stoke, Bolton and Wigan in Barclays Premier
League. And out of those four it's Manchester City who has the easiest feast. Bolton at home and
Stoke away. Emmanuel Adebayor is back from the ill-fated trip to African Cup and has scored in last
2 matches.
One day Patrice Evra will write a book. He has an inspirational story to tell by a footballer who
offers a rare insight into life at Old Trafford under the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson. Evra is

POLOKWANE, SOUTH AFRICA JUNE 17: Javier Aguirre head coach of Mexico issues instructions from the

Lionel Messi had the weekend off, putting in a relatively quiet shift, but Gonzalo Higuaín scored

So Carlos Tevez has taken a step towards sartorial respectability with a new haircut. No. He still
doesn't really do it for us, either. But it's a start. Image via mcfc.co.uk
Meet Sir Charles Tevez Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has been poking fun at his notoriously
poor English skills in the new Pepsi advert. He becomes Sir Charles Tevez, keeping proceedings at
the Promo of the Year award ceremony in Manchester on track. Apparently, the basic premise is that
the drinks promotion is so simple [.
Ah, it's that time of the year again and I simply love it. No, not Christmas, but the end of the
year lists that all end up being about the same everywhere you look. Seriously, I think every music
magazine has awarded album of the year to Kanye West, but that's a topic for another article.
The Guardian posted a poll asking its readers whether Manchester United should have
kept Carlos Tevez. A surprising majority said 'yes.' Can this be chalked up to the fickle feelings
of fandom? Or is it sincere affection for the man who scored 37 goals in all competitions while
wearing red?
Like a gambler in a casino, Sir Alex Ferguson went through a full range of emotions as he
watched his side crash out of the Champions League last night.
There was the initial euphoria of seeing his bets pay off as two surprise starters, Wayne Rooney
and Darron Gibson, were key to Manchester United storming to a three-goal lead against Bayern
Munich.

A shining performance by City, but one to make Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal look up? Yeah,
definitely. Although Liverpool were woeful Hodgson should never have persisted with 4-4-2 City
looked strong and played as a team, like a Chelsea in the making.
Remember the great Manchester Billboard War of 2009? The ceasefire was never particularly observed

Manchester' advert taken out when Tevez [.

Manchester City won 2-0 today - through Adebayor, Tevez, and an inspired Adam Johnson.
Meanwhile, Robinho was scoring beautifully flicked on backheel goals in Brazil...
Will Robinho ever have a serious impact on the Premier League? Or will Adam Johnson, who cost 1/4
of the price at only 8 million Pounds, end up having a more productive Premier League career?
Portuguese marketing agency Futebol Finance has published a list of the top 50 footballer's

Zanetti out, as Messi leads Argentina charge
By STEPHEN WADE (AP)
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — World player of the year Lionel Messi will lead Argentina's attack
at the World Cup.
There was no room for veteran defender Javier Zanetti in coach Diego Maradona's provisional
squad for the tournament, however.
Unlike most other major sports, soccer doesn't allow technology to assist the referees calling
matches down on the pitch, which can either work for you or against you.
Here are four reasons why people may tend to think that FIFA should start using technology to
communicate with the referees on the field during the games.
Morning all and welcome, once more, to the daily World Cup column on Soccerlens.
There's exactly one week left, and two of the biggest fish have now been comprehensively removed
from the pond.
Who'd have thought that the oft-cited South American dominance, that had been so prevalent in
the early stages of the tournament, would culminate in Uruguay (rather than Brazil and Argentina)
reaching the semi-finals?

Barcelona and Argentina star Lionel Messi has put himself in the headlines once again, this time
by stating his belief that Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson regrets his decision to not
sign Carlos Tevez. The Argentine striker, who played with Messi at the World Cup, is now just miles
from Old Trafford as he plies his trade for Manchester City.
1. Penalties for Bent sportsmen were always likely to be high on the news agenda on Sunday after
the cricket revelations, but Manchester City probably didn't envisage it affecting them quite so
badly. 2. Talking of betting scandals, you would have put your house on Carlos Tevez scoring that
ridiculously straightforward sitter.
Football is without doubt the biggest, most stupid sport in the history of the planet. The
unthinkable regularly happens like a London bus timetable. And not just on the pitch, but also
behind the scenes.
You probably live and are reading this article on Mars if you haven't yet heard the 'new' Wayne
Rooney rumour.
Manchester City beat United 2-1 in the first-leg of a Carling Cup semifinal.
Carlos Tevez provided both goals for the boys in baby blue against his former team, which provided
some nice drama, especially with ex-mate Gary Neville.
Pictures of which, captured here.
The art of translation is a wondrous thing. What's complimentary in one language is a vicious
insult to someone's dead relatives in another. And "getting the point across" with a similar, but
not quite exact, translation doesn't always "get the point across". Gary Neville got the point
across with his little gesture aimed at Carlos Tevez [.

At last, a player comes out and says what so many fans have been thinking for almost 20
years.
Carlos Tevez called Gary Neville a "boot-licker" and a "moron"
in a radio interview with ESPN Argentina:
"My celebration was directed at Gary Neville.

I knew I'd enjoy Diego Maradona's contribution to World Cup 2010, but I thought it would be more
about his crazy antics like running over cameramen, making diva-ish requests and gifting us
brilliant brilliant quotes. I dind't think it would be for his tactics.
Yet that's exactly what happened today, when Maradona fielded easily the most attacking line up
of the World Cup so far, and Argentina beat Nigeria 1-0.
Due to injuries & yellow cards, Maradona decided to make the following modifications for tomorrow's
Game - All eyes will be on Inter's lethal striker Gabriel Milito - Let's see if this new group can
jive with Messi.

Jonás Gutiérrez >>> Nicolás Otamendi
Walter Samuel >>> Nicolás Burdisso
Gabriel Heinze >>> Clemente Rodríguez
Javier Mascherano >>> Mario Bolatti
Angel Di Maria >>> Juan Sebastián Verón
Carlos Tevez >>> Sergio Agüero

Maradona's hand of god goalFor the second time today, we see a situation where technology
could've helped, it didn't help because FIFA doesn't allow it. It's funny, because back in
1986 when Maradona scored with his hand, video technology would've solved that enigma; so you'd
expect that 24 years later the governing body of football around the world would add video
technology, but I guess not.
