So now that the passion/disappointment has simmered a bit after a below mediocre season, I
figured I's sit and look at the team as a whole and write about what I thought should happen for
2010.
Peter Vermes = Technical Director: After 3 seasons in this position I
feel Vermes has done a less than stellar job.

Another week of former Wizards updates. The USL playoffs are inn full swing right now. Still
looking for a few former Wizards still, and since Carlos Marinelli hasn't even appeared for
Argentinos Juniors at all, I'm doubting he actually signed for them, so he joins the list of former
Wizards I'm searching for, along with Alex Zotinca, Doug DeMartin, Jose Burciaga, Neal Kitson,
Scott Sealy, and Will John.

Here's this week's former Wizards update. We have the return of one of our Fall-Spring season
former Wizards to play, as Matt Taylor and FSV Frankfurt started their season in the DFB Pokal. We
also have news that looks like it will effect two former Wizards, as the Argentine league has
suspended the Apertura season.

Time for another look at former Wizards and what they're doing now. I've decided to avoid posting
preseason games for the moment, and will begin posting more players once their seasons start.

Not any huge news today, but there are a few interesting bits of information out there about the
Wizards and former Wizards today.
First dealing with current Wizards.
There's not a big mention of this, but the Star did mention today in an article about Jack
Jewsbury, that Wizards midfielder, Herculez Gomez will miss a month of training due to an injury.

The Back Post 11 December @ 01:01 PM EST
I was able to pin Peter down for a pretty long interview a while back. It was right after the
expansion draft so that plays a large role in this interview. Part 1 Expansion draft I asked him to
comment on losing Tyson Wahl, about the quality of the draft. This part ends abruptly because he
received a phone call.

MLS Rumors 09 December @ 11:14 AM EST
We just got word from our friends at MLS en Espanol that former Kansas City Wizard Carlos Marinelli
just signed a contract with Bogota Colombian side Club Deportivo Los Millonarios. He will start
practicing with the team December 15th. It is official.

Well it looks like the rumor from earlier today about Carlos Marinelli didn't take long to be
proven false. Word is that Marinelli has now signed with Colombian club Club Deportivo Los
Millonarios. Millonarios play in the Copa Mustang in Colombia, but have not qualified for the post
season tournament at the end of the league's two seasons each year.

Some rumors out right now about a couple former Wizards finding new teams to play with.
The first is a player who was only recently waived by the team, Carlos Marinelli. Marinelli who
didn't appear with the team at all after a confrontation at practice with Coach Onalfo is now
rumored to be heading back to England, where he'd once played with Middlesbrough.

Along with today's expansion draft that saw Tyson Wahl head to Seattle, the Wizards waived 3
players today as well. The casualties are Ryan Pore, Carlos Marinelli, and Ivan Trujillo.
Pore was drafted in the second round of the 2005 MLS draft, a Generation Adidas player, Pore had
led the nation in scoring at Tulsa.

Good luck to you Tyson--except against KC.
Today, the Wizards lost defender Tyson Wahl to Seattle Sounders FC in the expansion draft and
waived forwards Ryan Pore and Ivan Trujillo and midfielder Carlos Marinelli. Good luck Tyson in
Seattle and the other three in their future endeavors. We appreciate their efforts here in KC and
wish them nothing but the best.

It's almost time for another one of those wonderful expansion drafts. This year the 14 current MLS
teams will help stock the Seattle Sounders FC. Today teams had to turn in their list of protected
players to the league. The Wizards list has now been published on Hillcrest Road. The only surprise
on that list is a big one, Carlos Marinelli.

Thad from The Back Post has put up an interview that he got yesterday with Wizards head coach, Curt
Onalfo. Overall, it's a good interview, with some insight into the team for this weekend's game,
along with an update on the situation with Carlos Marinelli. With regards to the lineup, Onalfo
says that he's going to go with something very similar to the lineup the team put out last week
against Chicago, and similar to the last 4 games.

Thad checks in with his write up from the press conference yesterday, as well as a report from
practice today. As Thad says in his write up, the big news is the fact that today out at practice
there was a disagreement between Coach Onalfo and midfielder, Carlos Marinelli. The disagreement
got the attention of the staff and people watching practice.

Sorry for the delayed post, here's the release about the match. On the Marinelli goal, I've seen
elsewhere that Souter scored, but the refs said the initial fumble by Edwards went over the line
and Souter pushed it in afterward. Enjoy the rest of the rundown.

The KC Wizards reserves had no problem taking down the Toronto FC reserves this morning out at the
Wizards Swope Park training complex. Ivan Trujillo had a hattrick as the reserves beat Toronto 6-0
today. The first half for the game was fairly quiet, as the Wizards and Toronto didn't have many
great chances.

The Wizards played a friendly today at their Swope Park training complex against the U-23 Arkansas
Wizards. Hillcrest Road has a more indepth write up on the game. The Wizards, though, had no
problem taking out their Arkansas counterparts, as they beat them 13-0. All healthy Wizards players
got into the game and most played a half.

At times this season, it's seemed like the Wizards don't realize the game if 90 minutes long. They
played about 55 minutes against Colorado earlier this season before playing the last 10 to get the
win in that game. They played 70 minutes against Chivas USA before sitting back and letting Chivas
almost get a point.

The Wizards reserve players topped UMKC easily this morning out at the Swope Park training center,
8-1. The game was as close as it was, as the reserves dominated the performance for long stretches
of the game. Here's how the reserves started out:
Kronberg
Myers - McMahen - Wahl - Watson
Marinelli - Souter - Morsink - Espinoza
Pore - Trujillo
The scoring started early, as in the 9th minute, Kevin Souter overlapped Carlos Marinelli, who
backhealed the ball as he went by.

Marinelli struck the winner for his green side today during a scrimmage.
Went out to training today and saw a good, competitive practice that featured a 7-v-7 small-sided
game tournament. The Green team won the final 2-1 over orange team, with Carlos Marinelli scoring
the winner with a minute or so to go in the game.

One night after the first team got back to its winning ways with a 3-2 win over Chivas USA, the
reserve squad took on a group of local college players with much success. The reserves won 4-0, on
goals from Espinoza, Marinelli, Kraus and Pizarro. Jonathan Leathers left the game early in the
first half and colliding with an opponent and cutting his head.

The Wizards reserves made it a clean sweep this weekend for the Wizards. One night after the first
team beat Chivas USA 3-2, the reserves came out today and beat Rockhurst University 4-0 in a
friendly game. The Rockhurst team while having Rockhurst players on it, also had some players from
other schools as well.

With the "all star break" over, the Wizards are back in action this Sunday against the
Chicago Fire. Kansas City comes into the game unbeaten in their last 5 league matches, and have
pulled themselves back into the playoff race, after looking like they'd struggle for the early part
of the season. They're still the second lowest scoring team in the league, but their 3 goals
against Columbus gives hope that they are getting out of that scoring funk.

With the recent trade of Scott Sealy, the Wizards again have an open roster spot to fill. From
comments made by Coach Onalfo and Peter Vermes, the team is looking to fill that spot with a
player. Will the Wizards go out and try to get a forward to partner Josh Wolff? Pushing Ivan
Trujillo to the bench?

Below is today's press release. Pizarro's goal was a serious rocket. I couldn't describe it as such
in the release quite enough, and the own goal was created by Pizarro's great ball that would have
been converted by Kraus even if the defender didn't touch it. At one point in the game, we kept the
ball for over two minutes and completed at least 35 straight passes (they were counted) without New
York touching the ball.

Carlos Marinelli hasn't appeared for the Wizards since coming off at halftime of the Wizards 4-2
win over the Carolina Railhawks in the US Open Cup. Since then, he hasn't been around, hasn't
appeared on the bench, and from reports hasn't even been at practice. Thad Bell over at The Back
Post is now reporting that Marinelli is not even in the country.

Some random news on the Wizards to help fill your Monday evening.
Josh Wolff May Play Friday - Thad over at The Back Post has a write up on Wolff's first appearance
at Wizards practice today. Along with that, at the end of the write up he mentions that Coach
Onalfo said there is a chance that Wolff will play in the friendly on Friday against Atlas, much
like Carlos Marinelli played against Evansville in the preseason friendly last year.

Getting ready to leave to head on my second road trip of the year, this time down to Dallas for the
Wizards 4th of July encounter with FC Dallas. Both teams are coming into the game on short rest, as
they each played in the US Open Cup Tuesday night, where both teams won. Dallas should be the
fresher team from that, though, as they were at home, and pulled off their win in regulation, while
the Wizards had to travel to Carolina and went into extra time against the Railhawks.

Yes, it was an own goal, yes one of our players still haven't scored since Claudio Lopez against
LA, but all that will matter in the end is that the scoreline says 1-0 with KC being on top. In a
game that KC had the better of possession and the more dangerous of play, they could only manage 1
goal.
Winning the toss, KC made Salt Lake go into the sun in the first half, which helped to negate much
of Salt Lake's offense in the first half.

After getting a chance to watch the game from the weekend, a mixed reaction. Definitely good to be over and done with the road trip. Six games straight on the road is not going to be easy for any team, no matter how good. Coach Onalfo was forced to shake things up, thanks to injuries to Carlos Marinelli (unable to start, but subbed on later in the game) and Scott Sealy's wife was giving birth, so he didn't make the trip.

The Wizards took the New Mexico Cup 2-0 over CSD Municipal of Guatemala tonight thanks to a pair of
first half goals by Ivan Trujillo. With starters like Claudio Lopez, Scott Sealy, and Kevin Hartman
staying home the Wizards apparently controled the game in the first half. Carlos Marinelli set up
Trujillo's first off of a corner kick.

LA is stop number 5 on the current road trip. While the results haven't been the best - the team
has a 1-2-1 record - last week saw their two game losing streak come to an end. A return to Kansas
City is only a few weeks away as well.
The Galaxy, while soft at the back, have boasted a ferocious attack so far this season.
