In a definite case of 'do not try this at home', a bunch of Liverpool fans (you can tell they
are Liverpool fans by their thick Scouse accents), driving home after last night's Carling Cup win
against Manchester City, found themselves in the lane next to one Samir Nasri.
Winning the Carling Cup this season would be a great boost for Liverpool football club, but I'm
sure most fans would agree that finishing 4th must remain the number one priority. Anfield legend
Mark Lawrenson doesn't think so, and he inexplicably believes that the club's owners would - given
the choice - prefer a Carling Cup win over qualification for next season's Champions League.

Arsene Wenger has said that his team's recent run of good form is a result of their failures in
the 2010/11 season.
Arsenal were on the verge of ending their six-year long trophy drought at this time last season
when they faced Birmingham City in the Carling Cup final. But in a surprising turn of events, they
lost that match and their confidence took a serious hit.
The 2011/12 season is going to go down in the annuls at Liverpool as one of disappointment when
it comes to the Premier League, but Daniel Agger remains confident the Reds can get back to
challenging for the Premier League title in their next campaign.
Kenny Dalglish has guided Liverpool to the Carling Cup triumph and also the FA Cup final where
they lost out to Chelsea, but when it comes to their league campaign it has been one of displeasure
and anguish around Anfield.
Sky Sports sources understand that Liverpool have agreed a compensation fee with Swansea for
Brendan Rodgers and three of his backroom staff.
The Anfield outfit now look to have removed the final obstacle in their search for a new boss with
confirmation of Rodgers' appointment on a three-year deal expected to follow.
Glen Johnson committed a two-footed lunge against Manchester City in Wednesday night's first leg of
the Carling Cup semi-final. However, the tackle (see above animation), which was far worse than the
one that Vincent Kompany committed against Nani...

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has hinted that Japanese starlet Ryo Miyaichi could be set for a
domestic loan spell as the youngster seeks more playing time to further his development.
The emergence of 18-year old Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has provided Wenger with more-than-enough
options on the wings, which means that the 19-year old Miyaichi will need to look elsewhere to
increase his football activity.
Richmond Kickers head coach Leigh Cowlishaw is interviewed about the concept of cost-free youth
academies and what that means for youth soccer in America. We suggest a few improvements for the
MLS All-Star Game, discuss Carlos Tevez' apology, Eddie Johnson's press conference and ask the
question: Would Liverpool fans rather have the Carling Cup trophy or a spot in next season's
Champions League?
The Gunners take on hosts Liverpool in Saturday's early kickoff in a game that will pitch two
sides on a high; Arsenal on the back of that remarkable comeback against Tottenham and Liverpool
bubbling from their Carling Cup triumph.
In recent years these two sides have produced some fascinating battles but Arsenal fans will be
worried about their side's tendency to throw away leads late in the game.

If Arsenal's win over Sp*rs was the result of a fantastic reaction and performance, it'd be fair
to say that yesterday's win over Liverpool wasn't quite the same thing. Not exactly chalk and
cheese but even Robin van Persie admitted they played better.

New footage showing Blackburn manager Steve Kean bad-mouthing his predecessor Sam Allardyce and
claiming Rovers would finish in the top-half of the table this season has emerged. The video,
reportedly filmed during last summer's pre-season trip to Hong Kong, was uploaded to YouTube
yesterday. We can only assume that whoever recorded wanted to give Kean [.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish insists he will resist any temptation to rush captain Steven
Gerrard back into action too soon.
The Reds' talismanic skipper came off the bench in recent fixtures against Newcastle and Man City
following two months out with an ankle infection.
The temptation to start Gerrard in upcoming matches will be even greater for boss Dalglish given
that star striker Luis Suarez is in the midst of an eight-game suspension.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard put more than two months of frustration behind him to score on his
first start since October as his side beat Oldham 5-1 in the third round of the FA Cup.
After three substitute appearances following recovery from an ankle infection the 31-year-old
finally reclaimed his place in the team and expertly dispatched the penalty which put his side into
a lead they did not surrender despite a valiant effort from their League One opponents.
Arsene Wenger came within a whisker of winning the Carling Cup last season, but he has now
re-iterated that it is far more important for Arsenal to finish in the Top Four of the Premiership
every season rather than win one of the domestic Cups. Wenger said: "You want your fans to be proud

Carroll, who was signed for over £35 million from Newcastle United last January, has scored
only four times in 25 appearances for the Merseyside outfit, leading to continuous criticism from
both within and outside the club.
