Manchester City's Carlos Tevez has branded Manchester United's Gary Neville a "boot-licker" and a
"moron" in explaining his goal celebration in Tuesday's Carling Cup semi-final Former Manchester
United striker Tevez gestured and cupped his ears towards the United bench after scoring twice in
Manchester City's 2-1 derby win.
Tevez playing for Manchester City gets both goals to beat Man Utd 2-1 in the first leg of the
League (Carling) Cup. The first resulting from a potentially dubious penalty, these things should
even themselves out over the season, but are unlikely to in the case of Man Utd .
To add to the spice of the fixture the FA are going to investigate Gary Neville's one finger
salute to Tevez.

Manchester City beat United 2-1 in the first-leg of a Carling Cup semifinal.
Carlos Tevez provided both goals for the boys in baby blue against his former team, which provided
some nice drama, especially with ex-mate Gary Neville.

It has been hard for Carlos Bocanegra to see the field for Stade Rennes over the past two
months, but the U.S. national team captain took another positive step towards reclaiming his left
back spot this weekend.
Bocanegra started Rennes' round of 32 Coupe de France game against Saumar, and helped Rennes
post a 4-0 victory over the fifth-division club.
Bellamy is pelted with what seemed like coins and bottles before taking a corner, the corner is
eventually taken and Man Utd break away to score. Does the TV commentary even hint at the
possibility of player intimidation. No. Cheat to win the Carling Cup semi final? Yes.

City's reward for their 1-0 FA Cup win at Boro on Saturday is a fourth round tie at
Scunthorpe.
Former Chelsea and Celtic defender, Paul Elliott, and comedian and West Bromwich Albion fan,
Frank Skinner, made the draw at Wembley Stadium.
Not much new stuff around the Arsenal camp with the exception of the health of Denilson. He went
down in the middle of the game seemingly in a lot of pain. However, immediately after the game, the
Brazilian was full of confidence that he would feature in this weekend's game. Next to that is the

But Benitez said: "We will see if we can do something more in this window.

Leg one of the Manchester Derby Carling Cup semifinal truly lived up to the hype, with
Carlos Tevez getting his revenge, Gary Neville getting fingery, and Mancini getting the best of Sir
Alex. But as great as it was, we really can't help but ask...what if it continued?
97′ Sir Alex Ferguson chews his gum so hard that it actually starts to bleed.
[vid via TVGolo] We used to think the Carling Cup needed some serious tinkering to make it
interesting again. Turns out we were wrong. All the cup needed was: 1. A Manchester derby in the
semi-final, 2. An in-form Carlos Tevez with a point to prove, and 3. Gary Neville being very
unhappy that an in-form Carlos Tevez had [.

The question of whether a one goal lead from the first leg was enough was one talked about in the
lead up to the return leg at Old Trafford. Whilst many thought it would be, in the end - like our
performance this evening - it proved not to be as we ultimately fell short.
Inevitably, if we were going to exit the competition tonight it would be in heartbreaking fashion,
and with time ticking down towards an added thirty minutes we conceded a soft goal that sent us
crashing out.
The oldest footballing cliché around – 'Football is full of surprises': The tabloids are full
of it this morning after Manchester United's defeat at the hands of a team that are 43 places below
them in the football league. Yet this is not the United of old, and the form they are on this
season would suggest that a home defeat to Leeds in the 3rd round of the F.
Brad Guzan did it again, stopping a penalty kick by David Dunn in Aston Villa's 4-1 win over
Blackburn Rovers in the third round of the English FA Cup on Saturday.
Guzan's stop in the 31st minute kept Villa head and followed five penalty saves, including four in
the shootout, against Sunderland in the League Cup earlier in the season.

One name that is sure of be off is Bulgarian has-been Dimitar Berbatov who has looked

This will be the last look at the decade that has past. Finding all these past histories and

So much for no winter break in English football.
Knocked out of the Champions League and Carling Cup not so long ago, inconsistent performances in
the Premier League against second rate teams [here, here and here], a constant injury cloud over
star players Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres and now an FA Cup exit to Championship side and
Premier League hopefuls Reading!
Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has not attempted to hide his disappointment at his side's FA
Cup exit at the hands of Reading. The former England international apologized to fans and put the
blame solely on the shoulders of the Liverpool players, perhaps taking some heat off of manager
Rafa Benitez.

In spite of Manchester City still being behind Manchester United in the Premier League (and in my
view, Alex Ferguson's United is still far better, although the Glazers might soon ruin that as
well...), today City defeated United 2-1 in the semifinal of the Carling Cup, and both City goals
were scored by none other than Carlos Tevez.

Tuesday's Manchester Derby, doubling as the first leg of the League Cup Semi-Final, was sleepy
for certain stretches but produced plenty of encouraging highlights for supporters of both sides,
including:
- Antonio Valencia. After receiving a gorgeous pass from Patrice Evra,
thoroughly embarrassed Craig Bellamy, first with a neat nutmeg, then with a sensational step-around
to set up Man United's first goal.
Rafa Benitez guided his Liverpool side to a crucial win at Anfield. Dirk Kuyt fired in an early
goal to give the home side the lead and the Merseyside outfit was good value for the win before
Kuyt scored a second from the penalty spot.

Plenty of positive vibes in the aftermath of yesterday's victory:
Firstly Shaun Wright-Phillips:
"Carlos Tevez was fantastic again for us, he has been unbelieveable all season. His energy is
superb but everyone played their part in what was a memorable win and that's a few we have had over
United in recent seasons.
In my preview of this game I mentioned our Carling Cup defeat against a weakened Manchester
United side. That was a match that was there for the taking, but for our lack of belief and any
sort of gumption.
Last night against Liverpool we saw another insipid performance from Spurs. Let's face it, our
side are flat-track bullies.
