So it looks inevitable that Harry Redknapp will become England manager one day (unless Roy
Hodgson gatecrashes the party and becomes even more unpopular). He'll probably take charge at the
end of the season, and so we've tried to predict the 11 players he'd do well to pick.
We're aware that the teams lacking a lot of experience, apart from Rooney, Parker and Baines
(Hart too, to some extent), so maybe Jones could drop to the bench to be replaced by an older
head.
After Grayson – A new dawning for our club? A solid 3-0 win for caretaker manager Redfearn at
Bristol sees him given at least the next three games in charge, before the board makes a managerial
decision. But with the club CEO on holiday and the chairman staying in Monaco as he has a cold (!),
no new managerial position was likely to be even looked at, let alone considered this week.

Grayson gone! This weeks show looks at the implications of this sadly expected sacking and in
true Twiggster style, looks forward to the future with hope and looks back on Grayson's tenure at
our club.
The sacking overshadows an horrendous 4-1 home defeat to Birmingham in midweek and a truly
abysmal January transfer window.
January was another interesting month at the Lamex Stadium. After an unbeaten December and with
Stevenage now in the shake up for the League 1 play-offs, Graham Westley was a wanted man. GW and
his team were snapped up by Preston North End after weeks of uncertainty over his future. A new era
has begun at Stevenage with Gary Smith appointed as the new manager.
In what was a disappointing game somewhat dictated by the poor weather conditions, Stevenage
came away with a well-earned point thanks to a late goal from substitute Darius Charles. Scunthorpe
had taken the lead early in the second half when Garry Thompson latched onto a through ball from
Mark Duffy and shot past Chris Day.

Some of our younger bloggers may not know that Sir Alex Ferguson almost became Arsenal manager
before Mr Graham. The Don Howe era had come to a sticky end with Steve Burtenshaw acting as
caretaker manager, therefore Ferguson who was the hot young manager following his superb job at
Aberdeen was approached by Arsenal and according to him, turned them down after lengthy
negotiations.

Portsmouth have signed Manchester City attacking midfielder Abdul Razak on a month-long
loan.
The 18-year-old, who was born in the Ivory Coast, has made four appearances for City and could
make his Pompey debut against Derby on Saturday.
Razak was discovered on the grass roots football website UK Football Finder, starting his career
with Battersea Ironside before Bolton, Palace & City all came in for the talented youngster.
Manuel Neuer was reminded he still has a job. Manuel Neuer just replaced Oliver
Kahn as the new Bayern Munich record holder for most consecutive minutes without conceding a goal.
He topped Kahn by 16 minutes and now stands at 1018 minutes and counting. For 928 minutes he barely
needed to lift a finger.
On-loan Chelsea defender Jeffrey Bruma got a start for Hamburger SV today. The young Dutchman
took advantage of the opportunity by going out and burying a diving header early in the second
half. That's three goals in his last six league appearances.
Well done, lad. And, yeah, more of that please.
Guest writer Ryan McCarthy explores the influence and ideological impact of club legend Kenny
Dalglish since his return to the managerial hotseat at Liverpool Football Club.
"He didn't just build great teams, he built up a club full of great people at every level. He was
the people's man, and he made Liverpool the people's club which I still think it is today.
Why Re-underestimate Kenny Dalglish?
For those who believed that Kenny Dalglish's January appointment as Caretaker Manager was based
more on appreciative nostalgia than relevant ability, the latter half of the Premier League season
gone by proved to be something of a shock.
Not being Irish, I don't really understand the whole "second team" malarky. When Robbie Keane
signed for Liverpool, claiming they were his boyhood team, before signing for Celtic, and claiming
the same, he was ridiculed on this blog. I, like many, didn't and don't understand how you can
support two teams.
Liverpool has confirmed that Kevin Keen has joined the club as first-team coach on a three-year
contract.
Keen will join up with his new colleagues for the first time on Monday when Liverpool's squad
report back to Melwood for the start of pre-season training.
The 44-year-old made over 600 appearances in spells with West Ham, Wolves, Stoke City, Macclesfield
and Wycombe.
Blackbum may rule the roost with him in charge
Carlo Ancelotti successfully removed the clause that stipulates he cannot be employed by another
Premiership club by agreeing to a smaller severance amount. The Italian humiliated by Chelsea's
crass gesture shows his serious intent to continue coaching in England counting redemption as one
of his motives.
Having been heavily linked with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United for a summer move,
the rumors regarding Aston Villa's winger, Ashley Young's future gets more louder after the media
spotted the player waving his hand towards the fans when he was being substituted against Liverpool
last week.
Aston Villa's caretaker manager Gary McAllister has insisted that the side will be trying to keep
Ashley Young next season, despite interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.
Young came off the ground yesterday in Villa's last game of the season waving to the crowd in what
appeared to be a farewell gesture, though McAllister says it was nothing to do with the England
international's future.
West Ham United's dismal season ended in hugely disappointing fashion when the only team already
relegated before the final games of the season suffered their 19th defeat of the campaign.
Sunderland owed a rare win – only their third in 14 games – to goals from Asamoah Gyan,
Stephane Sessegnon and Cristian Riveros.
Gerard Houllier could be in attendance on Sunday as Aston Villa entertain his former employers
Liverpool.
The Villa boss is still recovering from the heart scare he suffered earlier in the season but is
reportedly keen to prove that he is on the mend.
His presence would offer a timely boost to the Villans, with uncertainty continuing to reign
regarding their managerial post.
Kenny Dalglish has pointed to Liverpool's home form as an indication of what they are capable
of.
The caretaker manager has managed to make an instant impression since taking over from Roy Hodgson,
highlighted by his nine-match unbeaten run at Anfield.
But it is Liverpool's away form that has become a cause for concern and hampered the progress made
under their former playing idol.
A few more signings this summer will allow Liverpool to challenge for top honours again, according
to in-form Dirk Kuyt.
The Dutchman netted Liverpool's second goal in Saturday's 5-0 victory of Birmingham City – a win
which extended the Reds' unbeaten home record under caretaker manager Kenny Dalglish to eight
games.
Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has made a sensational return to his former club after a spell
playing in the Australian A-League.
The ex-Reds striker who now plays for Perth Glory has been training with Liverpool in a bid to
maintain his fitness during the close-season.
With the new campaign not due to start until October, Fowler has joined the backroom staff at
League One side MK Dons, and will also spend time at League Two Bury assisting caretaker manager
Richie Barker in a coaching capacity.
The midfielder – as loved for his warmth and charm off the pitch as for his skilful contribution
to two title-winning sides on it – passed away a decade ago.
The day of his passing, 31 March 2001, happened to coincide with another north London derby. There
were fears that the planned minute's silence would not be observed, given the rivalry between the
two sides, and even David Pleat, then caretaker manager of Tottenham had advised the referee, Paul
Durkin, to blow his whistle to bring it to an end as soon as any there was any interruption from
the crowd.
Liverpool will attempt to secure the signature of the French international defender Philippe Mexes
on a free transfer this summer should Kenny Dalglish's prime defensive target, Gary Cahill, spurn
Anfield in favour of Manchester United.
The Scot sees the Bolton defender as the ideal long-term replacement for Jamie Carragher, but knows
he would be forced to pay a premium price — as much as £18 million — to see off United,
persistent suitors for the 25 year-old, who has become one of the most coveted players in the
Premier League.
Liverpool's owners have begun talks with Kenny Dalglish about offering their caretaker manager the
position on a permanent basis.
John W Henry and Tom Werner, principal backers of the Fenway Sports Group consortium that owns the
club, arrived on Merseyside on Thursday and, despite watching Liverpool's limp elimination from the
Europa League at the hands of Braga, yesterday formally started negotiations with Dalglish over a
two-year deal.
Joe Cole has signalled his intention to change his luck at Liverpool through sheer hard work.
The 29-year-old has failed to live up to his pre-season billing for the club and has struggled for
form, fitness and confidence.
Cole played the full 90 minutes against Sporting Braga on Thursday on the left of midfield, where
he has often found himself deployed for his new club.
From Orange to Lilywhite The challenge facing Phil Brown is a post from: Just Football
Phil Brown worked wonders at Hull City, transforming them from Championship relegation
battlers and steering them to promotion to the top flight for the first time in their 104-year
history all inside 18 months.
Andy Carroll gave the thumbs-up to Liverpool fans after training properly for the first time since
his £35million switch.
The giant striker, who joined from Newcastle on deadline day in a breathtaking deal, stepped out at
Melwood to be put through his paces.
And he signalled his happiness to watching youngsters, who peered over the fences to snatch a
glimpse at their new No 9 after the record-breaking departure of Fernando Torres to Chelsea for
£50m.

West Bromwich Albion have appointed manager Roy Hodgson to replace Roberto Di Matteo.
Caretaker manager Michael Appleton will remain in charge of the West Brom team in their match
tomorrow against West Ham United.
Whether the appointment of Hodgson will be enough to keep West Brom in the Premier League by the
end of the season, we'll have to wait and see.
By Chris Wright
Well bugger me! Just when it looked like former Chris Hughton was all but set to make a return
to top-flight management, West Brom have gone and announced the appointment of Roy Hodgson as their
new head coach instead.
A statement posted on the club's official website reads:
"West Bromwich Albion are delighted to announce they have appointed Roy Hodgson as the club's
new head coach.
By Amy Quinn, writing from Dublin.
Sat down today to try and make sense of the chaos at VfL Wolfsburg, a club I have followed on
and off since the wake of their championship winning 08/09 season. Since then, many things have
changed. Felix Magath, the coach who achieved what seemed impossible with the Lower Saxony side,
has moved on to Schalke.

Liverpool co-owner John Henry has praised caretaker manager Kenny Dalglish in his efforts since
taking over from Roy Hodgson for "exceeding expectations", whilst the American also believes that
the team's future remains at Anfield.
There is much discussion on whether the club legend will permanently take the reigns at Anfield,
but Henry's comments cannot harm his chances of being in the Red's hot-seat come next season.
Sergio Batista has announced his first Argentina squad as permanent boss, having been only

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has launched an outspoken attack on Liverpool, claiming the club's
£4.5 million bid for Scotland midfielder Charlie Adam was "disgraceful".
Holloway confirmed Liverpool caretaker manager Kenny Dalglish wants to sign Adam, who has enjoyed a
fine season and scored from the penalty spot in his side's 2-1 defeat against Sunderland yesterday.
Kenny Dalgliesh one of my favorites as a player back then comes to Molineux tomorrow as the
caretaker manager of Liverpool FC and will try to get points for a so far this season team in
decline. Will 'King Kenny' succeed in his mission at the Golden Palace? I doubt it. [...]
