English Championship Recap, Table, and Video Highlights: Saturday, October 24, 2009

The English Championship is almost a third into the 2009-10 season. It remains very close at the top of the table and only four point separating the top nine teams. Newcastle United remains on top and looks the favorite to win an automatic promotion spot. West Bromwich Albion is also in the top four and another club that has to be a favorite to be promoted.

Stadium Spotlight: RIP Ninian Park

Ninian Park, built in 1910, was the home of Cardiff City FC until earlier this year. The last ever game at Ninian Park was on April 25th, 2009, with Cardiff losing 3-0 to Ipswich Town.

Cardiff now play at Cardiff City Stadium, a 27,000 all-seater venue, and Ninian Park is now being torn to pieces to be replaced by a housing development, as this week's stadium spotlight shows.

Tim Howard was one of the top goalkeepers for Everton, and Clint Dempsey played a major role in Fulham earning a 7th place finish in the Premier League. Oguchi Onyewu - Standard Liege beat Royal Excelsior Mouscron 3-0 - Belgium Jupiler Pro League - 2 goals - 90 minutes - Standard won easily and are now tied atop the league table as Onyewu scored two goals.
