I'll update this story a little later in the evening when there's more detail. For now, though, the
headline at the top of Olé is announcing that Ramón DÃaz, the former River Plate, Oxford United,
San Lorenzo and Club América de México manager, has been involved in a car crash near
Urdinarrain, Provincia de Entre [.

Usually when the injury news pops up over the International Break it comes in the form of pulled
hamstrings or strained thighs - as in Frank Lampard's case with England today.
But this year continues to be the year of sad and scary high speed road accidents in world
football.
First the d(r)iver Cristiano Ronaldo wrecked his Ferrari.

In Bob Bradley's search for Jozy Altidore's strike partner now that Charlie Davis is
unfortunately out for six months or more recovering from that horrific car crash.
Johnson has always been an enigma. Great promise and an ability to get behind defenses with his
speed. His was a blazing start with the MNT as he scored 7 goals in the 2006 World Cup qualifiers
including a goal on debut against El Salvador and a hat trick three days later against Panama.

by CARL ELDRIDGE Manuel Almunia proved he is good enough to keep Arsenal on track for honours this
season with his performance against the team-that-dare-not-speak-its-name on Saturday.
Questions were asked earlier in the season about the Spaniard and one or two errors didn't
exactly provide the cornerstone of a defence for his suitability as the No.

Well, the game kicks off in half an hour, I need to get a shift on.
Blackburn and their vile manager are visiting the Grove this afternoon and after United slipped
up yesterday we need to take advantage and close the points gap, especially with Liverpool and
Chelsea playing each other. This season is certainly shaping up to be an interesting one, teams
lower down the table believe they can beat any of the top 4 teams this season and we have had a
fair few suprises in a short amount of time.

Firstly, congratulations to Arsène Wenger on becoming the longest-serving manager in Arsenal
history, overtaking George Allison's previous record from 1934 to 1947. Allison's reign included
the Second World War of course when only war-time games were played which don't count in the
official records.

by CARL ELDRIDGE Cesc Fabregas has had his say on Arsene Wenger becoming Arsenal's
longest-serving boss this week as the Frenchman notched up 13 years in the Gunners hotseat.
Fabregas, 22, told the Sun he believes it is AW's refusal to rest on his laurels and his
constant determination to improve the team which makes him such a managerial great.

Morning all,
another week has flown by, here we are on Friday looking ahead to the weekend's game against
Blackburn. There's mixed news regarding the team. Eduardo is out having aggravated his thigh muscle
in his cameo against Olympiacos on Tuesday night. It's a bit of a worry as, according to the
manager, it's a recurring problem so fingers crossed we can get that sorted sooner rather than
later.

Arsenal vs Olympiakos
The Gunners will be keen to put the horrible start against Standard Liege behind them against
Olympiakos on Tuesday. A solid 1-0 win has to give them confidence going in, especially in young
Italian goalkeeper Vito Mannone made a series of spectacular stops against Fulham at the

This week's Ultimate 11's is transfers that shook the world. Who can remember David Jack's
controversial £10,890 move from Bolton to Arsenal back in 1928? Not even Mickey Marbles remembers
that one! Or how about the rather unfortunate Gianluigi Lentini who signed for AC Milan in a world
record fee of £13m, only to be involved in a serious car crash a year after signing, the extent of
the injuries he received were a fractured skull and damaged eye socket and he spent approximately 2
days in a light coma.

The 2009 FA Community Shield Match was sponsored by McDonald's whose ads were everywhere telling us
how much they support football in the community. What their ads don't say is they simultaneously
destroy football in the community by making their awful food available to consumers.
Manchester United's first goal was simultaneously a clinic in the effectiveness and ineffectiveness
of teamwork.
