Oh momma I can feel this coming....
According to the Sochaux web site, Charlie Davies, who scored his two goals against Bordeaux in
Ligue One last season, has been called up from the reserves for the first time since his terrible
car accident to face the same Bordeaux tomorrow at home.
The US striker has battled for over a year to return to senior team fitness after a horrific
accident in Washington D.
Charlie Davies will be in uniform for French club Sochaux for the first time since being badly
injured in a deadly car accident 14 months ago when Sochaux takes on Bordeaux on Sunday.
The club announced the news on Saturday, and Fox Soccer Channel will air the match on Sunday
(11am). FSC was originally airing Chelsea vs.
Twellman, more enlightening...
We continue our conversation with retired US soccer player Taylor Twellman. For the
(heartbreaking) concussion-specific piece of our talk, click here for Part I.
TSG: Okay, continuing. How do you expect your livelihood to improve now that
you've stopped chasing the game?
Anderson has today signed a contract extension with the club that keeps him here until 2015.
Following a falling out with the manager, a lengthy injury, a car accident after leaving a
nightclub drawing the small hours during recovery, being linked with a return to Gremio, Anderson
has finally got his place back in the team and has been performing well.
We know.... we know....
Certainly it wasn't expected that Charlie Davies get some PT today for FC Sochaux, but by throwing
the rehabbed USMNTer in the 18, American soccer fans got their collective hearts up, hoping that
the kid would see some first-team minutes. The first since his horrific car accident back in
October of 2009.
What if I told you about a local kid – and a really good soccer player at that was hitting a
few speed bumps while embarking on an improbable comeback from multiple injuries with his foreign
club?
What if I told you that everyone but his manager was on board with this comeback? And what if I
also told you that, as result of his manager's indifference, this same kid was at the subject of
loan deals?
