U.S. national team striker Charlie Davies gave his first interview since the deadly car
accident he was involved in six weeks ago and revealed that while he is still coping with the
psychological impact of the accident, he expects to make a full recovery.
In an interview with ESPN's Jeremy Schaap released on Sunday, Davies stated that his doctors
believe he will make a complete recovery and he believes he will be back in time for the 2010 World
Cup next June.

Charlie Davies says he expects to "make a full recovery" from injuries suffered in a single-car
accident on October 13th. Davies was a passenger in the vehicle. A fellow passenger was killed.
Davies is rehabbing a broken leg along with a broken elbow and facial fractures.
Charlie Davies has been released from the hospital and is progressing well in his recovery since
a terrible car accident in October. The American striker was on the rise after proving himself in
Europe, scoring consistently for the USA National Team, and contributing for Sochaux in Ligue 1. He
suffered significant injuries from the car crash and most figured a recovery in time for next
summer's World Cup Finals unrealistic.
The U.S. men's national team is set to close out its World Cup qualifying campaign tonight
against Costa Rica (8pm, ESPN2/Galavision). The Americans have already qualified, but Costa Rica
needs a win tonight to ensure a berth in the 2010 World Cup.
Tonight's match is being played under a bit of a somber cloud as the U.
Recently, ESPN's Jeremy Schaap sat down with American striker Charlie Davies for his first
interview since his horrific car crash in October 2009. Davies is very optimistic about his
recovery and the chances that he can be fit by June 2010 for the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
He's already started his rehab for is injuries and says in the interview that he's ahead of
schedule and there's reason to be optimistic.
There's not a lot of new information coming in on the accident that Charlie Davies was involved
with early Tuesday morning and still no word on who the driver is or their condition.
Steven Goff was reporting this morning that US coach Bob Bradley visited Charlie on Wednesday
morning and that he was responding to doctors but was still heavily sedated.
This week's Quote of the Week comes with some bad news; Charlie Davies, USA International striker,
was in a car accident and received serious injuries. While this news is bad, there is worse, he was
in the car with two other people, one of which died. Ashley J. Roberta, 22, was pronounced dead at
the scene of the crash, the only details on the third person, who was also the driver, are it is a
female.
The United States faced Costa Rica in the last match for both teams in the CONCACAF hexagonal
stage. Costa Rica could clinch a spot with a win or Honduras loss while the USA have already
qualified. The Americans will try to focus as after the car accident to striker Charlie Davies who

Honduras over the weekend, the game didn't figure to be too dramatic, but that all changed

Positive news continues to come from the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., as U.S.
Men's National Team forward Charlie Davies moved out of the ICU on Saturday, Oct. 17. Davies has
been able to speak and receive visitors.

And, yes, if the Raging Rhinos are invited, it's definitely a party.
Kinda cool having the NASL back. Especially for the young generation that mostly missed it.

A couple of days ago we heard about the tragic one car accident involving Charlie Davies and his
two friends, sadly one of them died. You think to yourself how could these men go out on the field
and try to play a match that honestly didn't mean anything, since they already qualified in
Honduras for the World Cup.
What a strange week for the US National Team. It started with jubilation after defeating
Honduras in thrilling fashion to qualify for the Cup. It turned tragic when rising star and

By now you've probably heard the terrible news regarding the U.S. national squad. One week
after losing one player indefinitely to a terrible single car accident, this week things didn't
exactly get better for the U.S. injury report. Oguchi Onyewu will be out for around six months
making his presence in the World Cup this summer questionable thanks to a horrific knee injury in
the final qualifier match against Costa Rica.
Sad reports are surfacing over the past hour that German national team goalkeeper Robert Enke has
committed suicide. We have not yet seen official confirmation and will continue to look for it, but
Enke reportedly had thrown himself under a train.
So, while we spend our days discussing David N'Gog's Tom Daley-esque diving skills and find humor
from all corners of this beautiful game, we sometimes need to put it all in perspective.

Oguchi Onyewu likely won't play in the U.S. national team's friendly against the Netherlands in
Amsterdam on March 3, but he should be fully recovered from his knee injury and back training with
club AC Milan sometime that month.
Onyewu ruptured the patellar tendon in his left knee during the U.
River Plate's young midfielder Diego Buanotte is currently in the hospital, recovering from
injuries he suffered in a car accident in which he was involved on December 26. Buanotte was lucky;
three friends traveling with him in the car were killed. Buanotte's father told the media that, in
addition to fearing for his son's physical health, he worries that about psychological trauma that
young Diego will likely face.

Will we ever know what happened in the Charlie Davies car accident? Who was driving? How did the
crash occur? What was he doing out past 3am? Maybe he had special dispensation from the coach to be
out late. Who knows.
Maybe this info is too private, but I know that these are things the fans would like to read about.
As of this writing, Charlie Davies is currently undergoing an unspecified surgery after being a
passenger in a one-car accident (that's the car pictured above) on the George Washington Parkway in
Virginia that tragically resulted in a second passenger losing her life, while the condition of the
