A report making its way around the Internet this morning claims that the New York Red Bulls are set
to hire former Arsenal great Tony Adams as their next head coach.
Adams, 43, boasts an extensive resume as a player. He appeared in 504 games for The Gunners between
1983-2002 - winning four top-flight championships in that span - and also earned 66 caps with
England from the late '80s up until the year 2000.
Again, apologies for the headline but fear not I'll be brief again on this post.
In case you didn't know, the Gooner Review is offering LIMITED EDITION Christmas bundles, such
as signed Bob Wilson caps, signed Peter Marinello books and 'The Gooner Review 08-09′ DVDs from
only £4.
With the latest fuss conerning Sir Alex Ferguson's selection of the youngsters, Gary Neville has
moved to defend the players, claiming he doesn't see them as just kids.
22-year-old Darron Gibson has 5 caps for Ireland, whilst 21-year-old Jonny Evans has 19 caps for
Northern Ireland, and Neville believes that even though they're obviously still developing, they
are certainly Premiership quality players.
No, don't get too excited. It won't happen before South Africa, and it may not happen ever but
Goal.com is reporting that the FFF are trying to woo Blanc to replace Raymond after World Cup 2010
(when Domenech's contract is up). But will Blanc agree, particularly after he was passed up for the
position in 2004 for Domenech?
Please welcome the newest member of D.C. United - Salvadoran international Cristian
Castillo. General Manager Dave Kasper has confirmed the 25-year old's signing this
morning, telling us the midfielder will join the Black-and-Red on loan from Mexico's Leon FC.
Here's what Kasper had to say about the club's newest player:
"We are excited to acquire a young player like Cristian, who we feel is one of the most talented
players in El Salvador.
Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has revealed he turned down an invitation from Fabio Capello to
return to the England set-up.
Carragher, 31, won 34 caps for his country but announced his international retirement in the summer
of 2007.
However, with encouragement from club captain Steven Gerrard he initially agreed to meet Capello's
assistant Franco Baldini, but changed his mind at the last moment.
The tantalising reality this evening is that Forest weren't actually that good. The Tom Finney
curtain which Preston brought instead of travelling supporters might as well have been a white flag
of surrender. For the second successive home game we witnessed a trembling opposition step out of
our path, doff their caps and usher us merrily [.
Bob Bradley has called on 30 players to take part in the US Men's training camp in preparation for
next summer's World Cup. The US Men will begin camp on January 4th and will play Honduras on
January 23rd. Benny Felihaber will be the most experienced man at the camp with 30 caps. Chivas
USA goalkeeper Zach Thornton will be the oldest player at 36.
So check this sh*t out. From the looks of things the renovations of B.C. Place won't be completed
in time for the kick off of the 2011 MLS season so the 'Caps (along with CFL side B.C. Lions) will
pitch a tent, so to speak, on the grounds of the old Empire Stadium in the form of the $20m
temporary stadium you see above.
Landon Donovan is now clear to join Everton on January 2nd after getting work permit approval from
the British Home Office. Britain requires foreign professional soccer players to qualifiy for a
work permit in order to sign with a British club. One of the criterion is playing in 75% of your
country's National Team games over the previous two years.
US Soccer has released Bob Bradley's 30 man roster for the team's January training camp that will
end with a game against Honduras at the Home Depot Center. Two Wizards were named to the roster for
the camp. Wizards captain, Jimmy Conrad is back in camp again looking to add to his 27 caps that he
already has.
Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani has revealed that he is still planning on being on the plane
for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and hopes Italy coach Marcello Lippi has not forgotten about
him.
"I never stopped thinking about the World Cup. I did so even when under the knife," the player who
spent months on the sidelines, told Sky Sport 24.
