Johnny Harkes thinks that the US mens national team still has room to grow. He says "we're
playing well, but we're not playing great." He is captain for life after all, so he may know
what he's talking about. Plus, he's bucking for more caps for Freddy & Jozy so I'm kinda feeling
what he's saying.
Say hello to the newest members of D.C. United - Ibrahim "Marcel" Koroma, Thabiso
"Boyzzz" Khumalo and Greg "working on nickname" Janicki. We'll shortly announce
that all three players have been signed to represent the Black-and-Red.
Marcel comes to the team from Sierra Leone Premier League, where he spent the last three seasons
playing with Kallon FC.

New York Red Bulls midfielder Jorge Rojas and defender Gabriel Cichero have been called up by
the Venezuelan national team for its upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Brazil (Oct. 12) and

A week ago I asked you, the readers, if Chelsea needed to sign a short-term replacement for
Essien. A hefty 44 percent of you said we should ink free agent Stephen Appiah if he were
interested. Some 43 percent of you said we need not delve into the market.
Well, neither of you got your wish.
Dynamo Kyiv boss Yuri Semin already has a fair knowledge of his Champions League opponents,
Arsenal, but it has most likely broadended after the experienced coach travelled 1340 miles to
watch Arsene Wenger's side thrash Blackburn 4-0 on Saturday. The 40-year-old former Highbury
defender earned over 70 caps whilst at the club and will be looking [.
Not to be left standing with their d*ck in their hands, Vancouver Whitecaps have made the next move
in the Pacific Northwest MLS Expansion Death Race 3000™. One day after Portland fired it's
shot across the bow, they launched a two-pronged attack today on both the world-wide web and, as
seen above, British Columbian morning television.
See here's the thing. You and I (assuming you have as little access and professional influence
amongst the soccerati as I have) can scream "Cap Kenny Cooper now!" as loud we want and
no one is going to listen. We're just the crazy, homeless guy with a brown bag of booze standing on
the corner of Soccerville Lane & Internet Road talking about how the end is nigh et cetera, et
cetera; you pass him off as a nut, walk past and think nothing of him.

Jamie Carragher says defeat while playing for England, even in the World Cup, hurt less than a loss
with Liverpool.
Carragher turned his back on international football last year after being constantly overlooked by
then manager Steve McClaren.
The 30-year-old won 34 caps, the last of which saw him miss a penalty as England went out of the
2006 World Cup against Portugal in a shootout.
LIVERPOOL'S latest signing Albert Riera has the happy knack of playing on winning sides against
Manchester United - but the Spaniard insists that his latest success is down to the hard work of
his new Anfield team-mates.
The winger made an instant impression by constantly stretching the champions' defence during
Saturday's 2-1 victory - following on from the part he played in Manchester City's 3-1 win over
their neighbours on his Eastlands debut in 2006.
David Dunn will be reeling from the news that the achilles problem he picked up against Hull on
23rd August is likely to see him out for as much as four months. Scans he has undertaken show that
the injury is another serious one for the unlucky midfielder. Dunn is a very talented player who
was looking somewhere near his best at the start of this season.
Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has bolstered his squad by signing Brazilian midfielder Mineiro
until the end of the season. The 33-year-old, who has won 24 caps, was a free agent having been
released by Hertha Berlin at the end of last season. Chelsea have been short of defensive midfield
cover with Claude Makelele having left the [.
