Questions raised after National Championships by one onlooker.
The National Under 13 Boys competition finished yesterday. Girls and Boys results below. Also below
is a post from one "Anonymous" poster.
I have no view on the Capital Football Academy of any real expertise or depth so I won't comment.
Well the team is Goulburn Strikers but they play in ACT land. And the lads from Goulburn stuck one
up the NSW Super League and NSW Football in general. Great work to Carlo Alliffi and the boys.
No wonder NSW won't let any ACT teams into their tournaments....and wait till I see that Han Berger
bloke next week.
FFA Tech Director Han Berger had a chat with me last night about the new technical development plan
put out or about to be by the FFA.
First thing that struck me is that elite sports for kids is so serious these days, and I guess
Aussie football juniors are about to get a rude awakening! Maybe it's already happening in other.
Football NSW Launches ‘Project 22'
Free to all selected players, this highly professional development setup allows players
to train up to five (5) times a week – for 40 weeks of the year – with highly experienced and
qualified instructors.
Now it's time for Canberra to follow, not neccessarily in the same form, but develop we must.
The next time someone in Canberra tells you we've a huge junior base with 20,000 kids/registrations
tell them they are dreaming, same goes for 260,000 registrations across NSW or the paltry 50,000 in
Victoria.
What we have is a lot of people playing independently in their own clubs, maximum community in
Canberra is Woden Valley 1800.
Canberra Times journo David Jean has told the FFA to "get stuffed," in his Saturday article
re;further A-League games in Canberra; although I don't recall David being front and centre as a
Canberra A-League football supporter, perhaps not as anti as his mate Peter (I hate Canberra
Football) Fitzgerald.
The AIS have been playing the local Premier League teams recently.br /br /With oldest AIS player
now born in 1992, that makes the oldest player just 17.br /br /They've already beaten Canberra FC,
ANU and O'Connor Knights. Belconnen did beat them but the AIS had a player sent-off in the 15th
minute so maybe that influenced the result.
Training once a week is enough for anyteam, particularly a girls team.
Parents don't want to commit more than once a week to sport?
Right, no wrong!
Had a great post from Mr A. Nonymous...so thought I'd give it it's own heading...
We have many thousands of young swimmers in Australia doing a minimum of five training
sessions a week between 1 - 2 hours per session.
Apologies no National Show podcast this week due to technical difficulties.

Well this has really got the locals talking. And thank god for the Nearpost; always got a solution
and right now that's just what we need.
And in blogland solutions are easy.
Capital Football has put on hold, maybe even scrapped, their plans for a change from the less than
equitable and limited current Academy structure to the proposed and advertised FFA facilitated
Talent Id program.

Surprise surprise! Football pathways stumble on! You couldn't make this up could you!
Development programs for our kids advertised, over 500 kids registered, and now they are on
hold...well Capital Football Board sorted that one very nicely didn't they.
Launched last night and apparently it's free so I'm told.
The HP system is back on in Canberra, check www.capitalfootball.com.au and the program is North and
South for 20 boys and 20 girls in both locations; so good things come to those who wait.
There is a cost, it's not insignificant, but it's a big step in a new direction and would seem to
be big vote winner from the grassroots community.
Now most Canberrans love nothing more than sitting and having a coffee. In their spare time, or
even in their work time
First we nipped out for a fag now it's for a coffee, anything to get out of the office.
So having visited the wonderful new facility at Hawker I wondered when we will see the off-field
match the on-field.

We cover the World Cup Draw, why the AFL Leader is an idiot, all the W-League Semi Final coverage
and of course the unleashing of Australia's new full-back Troy Hearfield and are Sydney back, is
Aloisi really back, will The Jets win three in a row, can the Mariners do it again and Andrew
Baresic follows Ned Zelic, Joe Simunic, Stephen Lustica and Kofi Danning all from the same Junior
Canberra Club.
I received a post from Peter today, posted in full below. He raises some questions about Capital
Football's role as a Football Club. They should be seen, in my view, as a point of discussion
rather than a criticism of Capital Football or it's Board.
I have no opinion on the matter, but I'm more than happy for others to raise points on my blog.
The lads of Canberra, mates, Aussie till the end can continue to look forward to playing against
their mates in the Kanga Cup, next week at 10 and then every year thru to 18 and then continue to
play against their mates in the local leagues and maybe one day in the local Premier League, and
then the lower leagues as they get older and finally again in the Masters.
