Nationally Terry Henry joins us as host, Former Sheff Wed and Aussie Youth Team Representative and
Total Football Academy entrepreneur Adem Poric is live in the studio.
The Mariners have launched their Academy programs today.
And it's interesting to see the numbers of players involved in their Academies. For example, One
centre for 9 years olds will train 16 players. And there are FIVE centres. That's 80 players per
age group.
At least five centres spread across the Region.
Two Capital Football Academy boys teams travelled to Sydney today to take on a Sydney Metros
side.
The Under 13 side beat the Sydney Metros 4-3.
Goals from Alex Popovic, Tyson Cottam 2 and Jas Abarquez secured the win in extremely wet
conditions
The Academy program aims to develop the boys through local league and other fixtures.

Capital Football CEO Heather Reid gives her full support and that of Capital Football. Speaking on
Nearpost radio this week Heather gave her full support.
Martin Radic, President Canberra FC, Steve Forshaw Coach of Belconnen United, Darren Viskovich
Coach ANU Premier League, Alex Castro Canberra FC, Jenny Brew Weston Creek, Alan Hinde Woden Valley
are just some of the names I on the list.

"We'd like to set up an A-League Youth team in Canberra, as soon as possible," said Wellington
Phoenix CEO Tony Pignata speaking from Melbourne yesterday.
The seven team A-League Youth League is set to start in August 2008, and Canberra it seems was set
to miss out.
Frank Farina with Capital Football's Alex Butt
Over 100 people turned out at the AIS on Friday night to get some junior coaching tips from Former
Socceroo Coach Frank Farina.
Farina, who has just returned from 10 day scouting mission to Brazil for his Queensland Roar side
said, "I enjoy getting back to the grassroots.
Belwest won a penalty shoot-out to take out this years Women's Federation Cup.

deficit to defeat Premier League side Queanbeyan City, 4-3.

FFA have sent a list of questions to Wellington Phoenix and Capital Football before the final go
ahead is given before the Canberra based 8th Youth side is given the go ahead.
Costs, Player rosters, overcoming the difficulties of having two teams playing in two locations,
two countries are just a few concerns.
A black day for all football fans, and young players in Canberra. After the initial excitement it
seems we will have to wait at least twelve further months for top grade pathway football in
Canberra.

National Youth League Deferred
Capital Football regrets to announce that the Wellington Phoenix's proposal of basing a National
Youth League team in Canberra for this coming season has been deferred for 12 months at the request
of the Hyundai A-League franchise.
Capital Football's season launch is on today. 17,000 registered players.
A fantastic achievement, make no mistake. Well done to all at Capital Football.
But I want more, and now!
I want an A-League team, A Women's National League team, A Youth team and a Futsal team.
With such existing community involvement and support in Canberra and its surrounds how can my
desires, your desires, not come to fruition.

Australia's biggest and oldest international youth football tournament has started finalising
preparations. Host's Capital Football, are proud to announce that the annual recipient of the
McDonald's Kanga Cup Asian Fellowship is a boy's under 13 teams from the Subang Jaya Community
Sports Club of Malaysia.
A-League Grand Final Rematch for Canberra. With Mark Bosnich rumoured to be joining the Mariners we
might even get to see the former Man United keeper back in goal:)

Professional football will return to the ACT for another year with the 2007/08 Hyundai A-League
champions, Newcastle Jets, taking on local favourites, Central Coast Mariners, at Canberra Stadium
on Saturday July 12.

Word in the fun packed Canberra suburbs is Kate has registered to play football this season.
Which team will she'll star for? We don't know but I'm expecting a left midfielder, technically
strong, energy to burn, a good eye for the goal, and an ability to read most situations.
Capital Football CEO Heather Reid spoke to the Nearpost last night and called for support for Local
Refs.
"Indications are Junior registrations will exceed 12,000 this year. Our key limitations are to
provide grounds and competition fixtures with Referees. I put a call out to listeners to get
involved in some capacity as a referee or at least make the life of the referee a bit more
enjoyable on the park.
The Board of Capital Football meet on tonight to discuss the Wellington Phoenix/Canberra A-League
Youth team proposal. Here's the story if you missed it

Speaking to many people around Canberra and the only response from football people has been
outstandingly positive.
Capital Football Board met last night to discuss the Wellington Phoenix proposal.
Capital Football CEO Heather Reid said, "..very positive response from the Board, we've agreed to
enter into formal negotiations with the Wellington Phoenix and the FFA (Football Federation
Australia.)"
"It's a very positive response from us, an important opportunity to address the gap between the
Premier League and the A-League.
Hold on to your hats. Three simple sentences.
Capital Football are pushing for an A-League Youth team to start in August 2008, with the FFA
ensuring the Youth spots are open to ALL Australians.
A Canberra Women's team is expected to take it's place in a National League starting in October.
Capital Football website is reporting that today could be the decision day for Canberra/Wellington
Phoenix based Youth team.

Both side of the ‘ditch' propose Capital Phoenix
The Football Federation of Australia will meet today to discuss the proposal from Capital Football
and the Wellington Phoenix about entering a Canberra-based team in the new National Youth League.
