Next summer, Fabio Capello's England will be facing both France and Sweden in the European
Championship group stages, just as they had done 20 years previous.
In the 1992 finals in Sweden, a Graham Taylor-led England side endured a dismal tournament,
losing to the hosts (courtesy of Thomas Brolin's famous goal) after playing out goalless draws with
both Denmark (the eventual winners) and a France side which included Eric Cantona and Jean-Pierre
Papin.

The draw for Euro 2012 has been made and the fixture list has also been drawn out marking England's
plot to the final in Kiev come 1, July. Interestingly enough, should Fabio Capello's men emerge
from Group D unscathed, they will face-off against what is likely to be Spain or Italy in the
quarter-finals.

Why England face some tricky games in Euro 2012 but I'm backing them to
qualify
After another draw that was like watching paint dry, England came out last of all but,
thankfully, avoided the traditional Group of Death. On paper, Fabio Capello must be happy with the
opposition, but we said the same in South Africa for the World Cup last year.

England's chances at Euro 2012 have been given a boost after UEFA decided to suspended the third
game of the striker's three match ban following his sending off against Montenegro in October.
It now means that the England striker can play in his country's final group stage game against
Ukraine, though he will definitely miss the first two games against France and Sweden.
Good news for England fans today as UEFA has reduced Wayne Rooney's three match suspension has
been reduced to two matches after a successful appeal by the FA.
The reduction means that Rooney , 26,will now be available for England's third Group D game,
against Ukraine, but will miss the fixtures against France and Sweden.

Okay, Cup Final. You're the manager. This is the biggest game of your career. You've been
exchanging emails with Capello and reading Zonal Marking endlessly, searching for the answers that
will bring home the silverware. You've made a list of things to tell you players. Then you made
another list.
With Euro 2012 seemingly drawing ever closer, it is still unclear whether or not the English FA
have begun to consider who they would like to see replace current boss Fabio Capello whose contract
expires at the end of the tournament next Summer. Whoever takes the job will have the task of
getting England to the finals of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Newcastle started this season strongly, confounding critics and pundits in the process. When Andy
Carroll left for better pastures with Liverpool, everyone predicted the end of the road for
Newcastle. Alan Pardew had his detractors and now he is actually being considered to be Capello's
successor as England manager.
On this week's main listening report we look back at some of the big stories from the football
world in 2011. Part one will feature January to June while part two will focus on July to December.

The defender had been set to move to Chelsea for a fee rumoured to be around the £7 million
mark. Complications began when personal terms were discussed. It appears that Gary Cahill's
representatives believed the player was worthy of a far more lucrative contract than Chelsea were
willing to offer him.
