The word out of Canuckistan is that we've seen the back of Danny Dichio to make way for the front
on Julian De Guzman. Talk about bittersweet. I bet hearts are breaking from Mississauga
to...Mississauga.
I'd like to address U.S.-based TOR readers for a moment if I could...everybody else go get a tall,
decaf, skinny mocha-chino or something for a minute. Cool? OK.
Now (as I channel my inner Bernie Mac) listen to me America. I'm no financial expert and I don't
claim to be. But if our nation's large and small businesses would "buy American, hire American"
with the frequency that Mo Johnston is buying Canadian, hiring Canadian we could fix this whole
economic freakshow that we are currently sack-deep in by MLS Cup weekend.
Edmonton? Hunh. Interesting. And Utah? Maybe. Hunh.
Monaco, Cardiff City, Toronto FC: The holy trinity of expatriated soccer teams?
Another fantastic bit of RSL-centric video, this time around the spotlight is on Canadian ace Will
Johnson (and again featuring that dude Dunny). Oh Toronto, don't you wish you could repatriate this
guy?
Why can't I get Jovan Kirovski and Dema Kovalenko on a couch talking about who could kick who's ass
in fight? We all know the answer but still it's like Big Worm said at the end of Friday, "It's
princibalities involved in this".
And is it just me or could Danny Dichio be cast quite easily in a 1990's Guy Ritchie film?
What or where is this Casino Rama Grill Room? Is it a gambling establishment? A steakhouse?
Whatever it is, good on them for getting interviews with Trader Mo and Dan Dichio this week. Will
the circle be completed with a JDG interview next? Who knows but if it is, I'll try to dig it up
for you.
Here's one-hour of hot soccer talk with the 2-man, 1-woman Canuckistani footie chat wrecking crew
that is It's Called Football. In this episode Nick De Santis drops by to discuss the Montreal
Impact ahead of their CONCACAF Quarterfinal match tonight. There's also some Miami and Montreal
expansion real talk.

/This is a pretty good-looking video (from a style="color: rgb(51, 204, 255);"

People wonder why Toronto FC gets taken seriously by the city's populace. MLSE definitely gets to
take a lot of credit for that as do the city's inhabitants. It also has to be said that a big part
of it is the local and national media treating the sport, the team and the players like they're big
time.
Julian De Guzman coming home to Canuckistan? Shep Messing's Mustache has got the scoop.
Actually he does and talks about the big, bald, baller's Toronto past, present and future in
something called the Casino Rama Grill Room. If you can handle a double-scoop of jawing gingers,
drink it in Toronto fans...drink it in.
This is a new one on me; I've never seen this show before but it's a good look. This is part one,
the other three can be found here.
I found it. The cirlce is now complete.
Damn y'all, there is some impressive tifo in this clip at about the 1:16 mark. Is this how they do
it for Toronto's "ethnic" teams? They know the war is over right? Canuckistani's, please
educate me about the CSL because I know nothing; I know the video is a few season old but is this
kind of display typical or the exception?
See that guy in the photo above that looks like a pc? His name is Cathal Kelly and he's a columnist
for the Toronto Star. Today he's written one of the most misinformed reads about MLS (and David
Beckham) that I have ever laid brown eyes upon. I don' t know how many minutes he spent doing
research.

Or more like The Score knows Freddie Ljungberg's publicist.
I've been avoiding mentioning a few recent TFC fan-related incidents because A) everyone else was
talking about it, B) and the topic was getting waaay overblown to the point of near-glamorization.
But really, can we rein it in a little Canuckistan? Not all of you obviously as most of you are
model citizens.
Over 500 bands hit Toronto for North By North East but only one duo of footie-journos is prepared
to tackle it.
This guy really is pretty funny. Not sure if I'd make the trip up to Mississauga to see him at Yuk
Yuk's or anything but he'd make a fine host for a regular MLS segment; I'd actually pay to see him
and Jimmy Conrad trade jabs.
How do you know your team sucks? When a trade to Toronto is a step up the table. That's certainly
not a jab at TFC but it's a blatant jab at the crap record of the San Jose Earthquakes though.
Record aside though getting dealt to Canuckistan from The Bay is an upgrade on so many levels (nice
stadium, treated like a professional athlete).
I had no idea Broken Social Scene headman Brendan Canning was one of us. You learn something
everyday. If you aren't versed on one of Canuckistan's finest musical exports, I suggest you get
familiar.
...and kinda looks like an older Bobby Convey.
After the success of the Showdown in Chinatwon, Stevie Nash has decided to take the show(down) out
west to Vancouver. Highlights and inteviews in the clip above, including an appearance by one of
the best players ever to grace MLS, Youri Djorkaeff, in the 7th minute.
Can you beleive it? The low-seeded Montreal Impact is in the USL final while Portland, who
dominated for much of the 2009 season, are already planning thier trips to see the fall folliage?
It's madness I tell you but I guess them's the breaks.
Canucks should be stoked though, what with an all-maple final on the way.
Everybody know someone who cohabitates with someone who supports a different sports team than them.
For instance my brother-in-law is a die-hard Giants fan while his son bleeds Jets green; even
though they rarely play each other, the trash talking can get definitely get heated (in a good
way).
This is actually a couple of months old but I don't think I was able to find an embeddable version
of this around the time of the event. But it has Rivers Coumo, Brendan Canning from Broken Social
Scene and Michael Cera being Michael Cera so for me it' worth the rewind. Welcome to the off-season
content-lull.

The toes are definitely at the line here, but have they indeed crossed it? Only This Hour Has 22
Minutes can say for sure.
More Canuckistani comedy.
RSL's Will Johnson --who I personally think is quite underrated-- reflects upon Gold Cup run with
the Canuckistani national team. Is it just me or does he look like Ed Norton Jr. and Shia Labeouf
defied science and made a love child?
It's about a month old but for those of us south of the 49th parallel it's brand spanking new.
All you ever wanted to know about The Nova Scotian Nightmareâ„¢ but were afraid to ask.
With special guest Vancouver Whitecaps honcho Bob Lenarduzzi.
A slow day so here's an interview with TFC's Ali Gerba that I never got around to posting.
This was my favorite goal of the week in any league. Montreal dominated Vancouver at home in the
USL Championship on Saturday and this goal from Joey Gjertsen was the one that just killed. His
finishing was certainly on-point but respect has to go out to Roberto Brown --yes, that Roberto
Brown-- for the outrageous assist because that sh*t was just ridonk.
This is a loooong video so you may want to clear some time in your Outlook calendar if you intend
to watch it. But since it's a clip of the Red Patch Boys creating thier outsized Danny Dichio
tribute banner it's somewaht fitting that the video is super-sized; any banner that has to be
carried by forklift desereves the director's cut.
