Loose lips sink ships? Luke would have been good in the war! Because he's not saying if he won a
contract with Melbourne Victory after competing in the reality TV product placement show.
This year it's dire. More products than footballers I reckon but it's probably an age thing.

Ray Junna United's new Coach is seemingly looking to engage more local talent for Canberra United
this season, andLydia Williams set to come home from the USA for United's new season.
For Canberra Times Journo Merryn Sherwood's recent articles in the Canberra Times read on.

Last season Cian Maciejewski was the only local premier league player to take part in Canberra's
inaugural W-League side.
Six Canberrans have training contracts with the AIS: A record for Canberra football and no doubt a
record for any similar sized town/city in Australia...and yet we have no professional team, but we
did introduce SSG's in 2004.br /br /A great interview tonight with John Mitchell, the man
responsible for bringing Small Sided Games to Canberra in 2004 way before it was introduced
nationally by the FFA.
Do the FFA and NSW give a stuff about football development?br /br /Imagine a football organisation
that wants to improve it's organisation, it's Premier League. Well it's not NSW is it? You might
argue it's not the FFA!br /br /Australia is crying out for game improvement opportunities for its
young players and NSW has an amazing opportunity to improve it's league.
Looks and sounds like the Mariners will bring two A-League games to Canberra. V Adelaide and Perth
Glory.
And if Perth Glory sign Denilson or Alvaro Recoba as rumoured we'll be in for a treat like never
before.
These are not pre-season games but regular competitive fixtures.
First the Socceroos now A-League.
Settle down!
Fulham will play the Gold Coast, Melbourne Victory and Perth Glory but they WON'T be playing in the
football backwater of Canberra....sorry about that....nor Wolves either come to mention it.

AFL the darling of Australian sport, here for 150 years and with my beloved St Kilda leading the
way have only
ONE player, one current professional player Sydney Swans Craig Bolton drafted from Canberra in
their league.
One, according to the Canberra Times.
Can that be right?
As the A-League bid for Canberra ramps up it's interesting to note preparations for our young
players continue apace at various clubs, inparticular at ANU FC under John Mitchell's Coaching.
ANU downed Newcastle Jets last weekend and head to Sydney FC today for another game but the program
been undertaken is perhaps more interesting and is outlined below.

I've never written to the Capital Football Board before, never felt the need or desire but the
current debacle over "our" High Performance programs and it's ability to provide opportunities for
a much broader and younger football base, boys/girls, is such a positive move that something must
be done. And now.
How many full-time staff does your junior club have?
Struggling for volunteers? Does the model for your club work? Is it going to be sustainable in the
future?
Ever noticed how the Canberra football communiy, all 20,000 players, has no place in our
community.
One Club in Australia has eighty full-time staff, so why does your club have NONE?
A Canberra A-League side would change many things in the football community over time.br /br
/Here's what the Mariners are doing just four years after they started, though I'm not sure what
they mean by "learn to play the Mariners way." "the Mariners Way," is not my view of how the game
could be played.
FFA are drawing up plans for a Second Division. Read the SMH article below.
The move into Asia means if we want more teams in the Asian Champions League we need a second
division.
So an A-League team for Canberra AND a second division team, maybe Belconnen United or Canberra
Vikings, or Canberra FC, although ground, shirt and dressing room issues remain there in the eyes
of the FFA and their brand.
Amidst the gloom a chink of light.
Canberra Football suffered a black day on Friday according to a report below. But as often in these
times a real hero steps up. Coaches of two ACT Premier League sides are praised for their
leadership.
Report from Peter below.
It was disappointing to see the adverse publicity in the Canberra Times over the first Friday night
football match at Deakin, between Woden Valley FC and O'Connor Knights Premier League teams.
