How many of these lads could get a paid gig in a Canberra A-League Youth side in 2010if we get an
A-League side?
The FFA handed, on a plate, the 11th spot in the A-League to a Melbourne consortium.
Hand in your plan and you get the gig. If you're from Melbourne.
No measuring alternative plans, we want Melbourne and probably Sydney and that's it.
The rest of you, Tassie, Canberra and Wollongong can well.
Mike Cockerill has written more pieces on Wollongong's A-League chances than any other bid. Why is
this?
In fact to date he's written NOT EVEN ONE piece on the Canberra bid. Wollongong make their move
Now he tells us Wollongong are cashed up, well whoopee do. Aren't we all.
I'm more interested in the fact West Sydney are reported as having no coherent plan.
Canberra Times are giving the A-League bid a great boost Ned Zelic has signed up and is keen to see
a team in Canberra. Good stuff Chris Dutton and The Canberra Times and great support from Ned and
Carl Valeri. Come on Canberra let's sign up. We can do it.
The potential for overseas sign-ups for the Canberra and Region A-League team is, I believe,
significant.
Overnight Razif Bahari from Singapore, left Canberra 5 years ago, only failed to sign-up as he got
an error message. But the email he sent to his friends, (see below) all ex-Canberrans, from other
countries is interesting.
Corporate, Small and Large business can now show their support for Canberra's A-League bid. They
get a Foundation Membership and their name and logo on the website. So why not encourage your
favourite small business to sign up. They can keep the membership, donate it to charity or an
employee whatever they like.
Ivan has sent a message to Foundation Message. I'm one so I got the email. But the update is in

Mullen selecting another four players into The Reds' Youth League squad.
You would think if you play Premier League/ Reserve/Pathway football and ACTAS, Capital Football
Academy that you are very into your football and the development of the game and opportunities of
the game in Canberra.
Training and playing what 3 or 4 nights a week. That's commitment isn't it?

Having attended last nights Canberra A-League committee meeting I can tell you things are moving
along at an impressive rate.
I can also tell you we are in the fight of our lives and, I believe, only the people of Canberra
can secure this team.
Melbourne hae been handed a second spot for 2010.
We need $6 million we've already got $4.5 million and over 530 Foundation Members. All in a few
weeks. A fantastic effort from Ivan Slavich and the whole community. Have we ever been so
close?
Just one more investor and further Foundation Memberships can get us to the inital goal of $6
million.
Just to inform you I've been officially appointed as the Canberra A-League bid Media Liason
Officer/Committe member. You heard it here first:)
More importantly here's the most up-to-date news on the bid...more money rolls in.

Semi Final, they're already talking about switching venues to cope with the crowd...
And whilst Australia and particularly Canberra has been slow to grasp the opportunities that Asia
can provide to football, to the city and the region; our own A-League side would benefit the
city/region like no other sport.
Shane Perris from Narrahbundah FC is the 950th fan to sign up. Great work Shane.
But I'm meeting Andrew Barr this arvo at 3pm. Would be great to have 1,000

We need more, we want more, but let's just take a moment to recognise what we've achieved in just 8
weeks or maybe less.
$4-5 million dollars locked in.
Sydney and Melbourne. The FFA research show that two teams in the A-League from these cities would
be great.
But after the weekend's Sydney sporting crowds Canberra hopes must have risen a further notch
Everyone knows the AFL has the most money and least international expenses of any sport in
Australia.
Well it's not the AFL Club's, Adelaide Crows or Port Adelaide. They might have been going 150 years
but who's heard of them outside Melbourne:)
Is there even a Rugby League or Union side from Adelaide?
Adelaide United a club just a few years old, already well known across Pohang, Korea, Changchun,
China and Kashima, Japan.
Yesterday I was at a meeting at the Hermitage in Canberra. Nice restaurant, nice meeting.
And I believe it was the day when the Canberra A-League bid was sealed. I think we are now
unstoppable.
Of course I can't reveal more at this stage but within two weeks, maybe less, I expect to hear the
news spread widely.
A Wollongong bid, called South Coast FC, continues to lead a tight race that includes
Canberra, western Sydney and, somewhat surprisingly, Tasmania. While the FFA had flagged the
possibility of making a decision before Christmas, the board has now given the interested parties
another four months to shore up their bids.

Lest we forget. Peter Fitzgerald finally wrote something about football in Canberra and it stinks
of "smell the fear," and lacked analysis and Canberra vision.
Peter says we need a lot of money. Well well Peter tell the football community of Canberra
something we don't know.!
5,000 fans to a pre-season, pre-season game.
We are moving quickly towards our August 24th Bid Submission date:

requirements.
Here's what you can do.
Graeme MacKinnon, Foundation Member 412, is a "mad Mariners supporter" but he's laid out
his hard-earned cash to show his support for a team from Australia's Capital.
Thanks for your support Graeme hope the Mariners win the opener against the Jets.
Interesting the link between the Mariners and A-League in Canberra.
The ACT Government has announced a multi-million dollar deal for the Canberra A-League side this
morning.
$2.5 million. We need $6 million and a strong supporter base to get in. With a number of investors
already on board we just need to prove to the FFA we have 5000 Foundation Members. www.
Three Cities left for two slots:
That's how I read it.
SMH's Mike Cockerill is rerporting today that Townsville and Gold Goast will officially get the nod
for 2009 on Thursday. But more interesting to me is the comments from FFA Chief Ben Buckley on the
other two places froo 2010.
With consortiums from Canberra and Wollongong, and two competing bids
from Melbourne, also pressing to join the league, there is little doubt the A-League will expand
further to become a 12-team competition by 2010.
Anthony Hatton is organising the Canberra A-League fans trip to Sydney v Perth on December the
21st.
T-Shirts, match tickets, travel to and from, Anthony's organised the lot for $85.

How many other clubs could boast such support two years out for a team that doesn't exist.
