TP Mazembe vs North African dominance CAF Champions League 2010 semi-finals is a post from: Just
Football
Can TP Mazembe retain their trophy?
The 2010 African Champions League semi-finals have a very Maghreb/Egyptian feel
to them this year. Perhaps this should come as no surprise.
Who can forget April 9, 2005 when then English League One leaders Norwich City Football Club
defeated mighty Manchester United 2-0? Since then the Canaries were relegated to the English
Football League Championship and thence to League One. Today Norwich City FC unveiled their new
2010/11 Xara home kit.
Real Valladolid and Tenerife secured three vital points apiece as they revived
their hopes of survival. Having shared the points this weekend in the Canaries, any less than a
midweek win could have proved decisive as both look to avoid the dreaded drop into what the Spanish
delightfully term 'Hell'.
Barcelona 4 - 1 Tenerife(1-0) 17' Messi, (1-1) 39' Roman, (2-1) 63' Bojan, (3-1) 77' Pedro, (4-1) 93' Messi
A victory made in Barcelona.
Lionel Messi (2), Pedro and
Bojan
scored the goals that saw Barcelona open up a four point gap (again) with only two matches to play.
Stevenage have published their pre-season schedule as they prepare for life in League 2. Boro
will play 7 games in 3 weeks starting with a trip to Corby Town on the 13th July, just 2 days after
the World Cup Final. As GW confirmed in the recent fans forum, the players will return to training
this coming Sunday and have been given fitness programmes to stick to over the summer, so they
return in good shape and can get straight back to full-time training.
Straight from World Cup victory in South Africa with Spain to the blue of Manchester City. David
Silva was one of the many players that Manchester City have been chasing for months now. Finishing
outside of the top four hampered their ability to attract many of the stars they were hoping
to.
Football returns to Broadhall Way on Tuesday evening when League 1 Champions Norwich City are
the visitors. The Canaries come into the game on the back of a successful tour of Germany where
they finished off with a 2-0 victory over SV Bergisch Gladbach 09. Boro have had a mixed start to
their pre-season.
A much better performance than the one on Friday night against Chelmsford. Boro held their own
against Championship side Norwich and had some good chances in the second half to win the game, but
in the end they had to settle for a goal-less draw.
The first half was a fairly even affair. Both sides were content with knocking the ball about
and seeing if they could open the opposition defence.

Norwich City supporters have been plagued by swarms of insects since the Canaries unveiled their
new home kit, which is apparently 'more yellow than ever'.
Whilst walking home from a recent pre-season friendly, many fans were 'engulfed' by the little
black beetles (Meligethes aeneus, if you're interested!
Now is the time of year when clubs bring out their new range of kits for fans to buy.
Often they are bought under the premise that they are better than last years, however Norwich
City's changes don't seem to have improved their kit...

The Reds will be looking to turn performances into points against the Canaries at the City Ground
on Saturday. Despite moments of encouraging play in our opening three league games, Forest have yet
to notch a win due to a melting pot of inconsistency, wasting chances and slight-too-wide
goalposts. Norwich have a had a decent [.
Ah, Carrow Road. Another of the many grounds on our list of places we just cannot get anything
from. Usually it's a beating when we travel to Norwich, but yesterday we came agonisingly close to
finally getting something. I think that's what stings the most. I'd have preferred the beating.
It's been a few weeks since the last entry on this blog, and plenty has happened.

Amusingly enough, no team making a conference switch has ever failed to win in the first round,
since MLS moved to this current format which everybody loves. Kansas City beat Chivas USA in 2007
before falling to Houston, New York made it to the final in 2008, Salt Lake of course won the final
last year.
This week's Preview marks Norwich's second airing in this column in 2010-11, after Lanterne Rouge
correctly predicted a slender home win against Barnsley back in September. In fifth place going
into Saturday's early evening trip to the Silicon Valley, the Canaries have been lingering around
the play-off berths for most of the intervening period and their position in the form table speaks
of a
As any supporter knows, the football season runs from summer to summer, however I felt as we
approach the end of 2010 that it would be interesting to take a look at how well clubs have done
over the calendar year. This stuff is obviously totally irrelevant when it comes to handing out
trophies or deciding promotion or relegation but it may give an indication as to which sides have
had a good 2010.
